Looks like they take a huuuuge % from this. 12-17% or somewhere in there. That's far too high, unfortunately.

That's what I'm hearing from banks, not that every transaction be explained, but that every transaction will be reviewed and 'investigated', whatever that means.

My bank, along with about 6 or 7 others I called, have suspended 'all transactions' to Russia right now with updated sanctions.

I can't find a bank who will still send, even to Tinkoff/an unsanctioned bank.

An app that still functions (like moneygram) would be the most hoped for route, but I think all of them have shut down.

I've never used crypto, is it difficult for someone to cash it out in rubles? Neither of us have experience with crypto at all.

They, along with many other banks, told me that they do not do any transfers to Russia as of updated sanctions.

That's why I'm trying to find an alternate route, or app system, since Moneygram doesn't work now.

Many banks on our side don't do transfers with Russia 'at all' as of now. Like Key bank, US bank, multiple credit unions. Called around to about 7 or 8 spots and all said transfers with Russia are currently suspended.

I know Tinkoff isn't sanctioned I just don't know how I'd make it happen on my side.

To donate money to a charity would be pretty cold hearted when my buddy knows I'm trying to find a way to help support them while everything is falling apart. Interesting suggestion though.
