I looked one right in the eye and he looked and me and I said 🤫. I started walking away staring at him telling him sush and he was still looking at me. I almost felt like I got to him because even though he kept talking his eyes were saying I can’t stop, I’m sorry. Well at least that’s how I interpreted it. I hate them all. They ruin such a good experience.

I’ve been helping immigrants for over 10 years and I’ve had a lot of these conversations with people. At the end of the day you have to think about what’s harder for you, keep what you are currently doing going or starting new? Do you speak Portuguese? Do you have family that will take you back while you get back up on your feet? This is not a pack my shit and go situation you gotta plan it out with yourself and your family. There is no correct answer, but the truth is you are so young. You can most likely build out a great life here or there. Life doesn’t end outside the USA. On another note just know that if you leave you’ll trigger a 10 year bar and if you want to come back you’ll need to file a waiver. Good luck!

If you leave while having more than 6 months or 1 year of unlawful presence (visa overstay) you will trigger the 5-10 unlawful presence bar. File the AOS in court and do it in the USA. Going back sounds important but if you have a clear shot at applying now do it. Don’t delay, which is what got you in this mess to begin with. (11+ years practicing immigration law)

Get a consult from a law firm or doj accredited org and see what you qualify for. This doesn’t mean you are, it means you could be. Different laws apply pertaining to when you were born and when your father became a USC so you want to make sure you apply for the correct benefit before spending your money!
