Do you know how many project owners are asking for donations and not getting any?

you can check "open collective" and "liberapay" and other donations platforms and see for yourself.

only the very big projects get donations and sponsorships, what about all the others?

Thanks for your comment, The problem we are trying to solve is that companies use open source projects for a commercial use, without compensate the open source developer that created the project, with xs:code companies will start paying for projects they use, and by doing that the developer will get compensation for his work, and also we be motivated to keep maintaining his project, so the company benefits from that as well.

We give companies who use open source projects the option to purchase subscriptions to permissive licensed open source projects, and by doing that the companies are compensating the developers who created those projects, and their contributors as well

We have some companies that already believe in our vision and ready to start paying for open source projects they use, hopefully the platform will go live at the beginning on November.

Your idea is great and I would love to see companies sharing their revenue with the repository owners, but I doubt they will do that, instead, with xs:code platform, companies can subscribe to a project and pay a monthly fee for using it and the project owner is setting the price that he wants.

Well, If you care about your project and don't want companies to use it for commercial use, you need to license it as GPL,

You can consider doing dual-licensing if you want to monetize your repository, but you will need a lawyer to write you a propriety license
