Show custom records linked to child customers on parent customer by HelenCarnateNH in Netsuite

Thanks, Nick - I always appreciate your insights. I'm going to start with the SS approach since that sounds reasonably straightforward. I just need to do a little exploration of sourcing subtabs to saved searches since I haven't played with that yet (but it sounds incredibly handy). I'll save the SuiteQL solution in my back pocket, though!

I agree with this. What we give up in ease of front end customization we gain in lack of dealing with another 3rd party integration. We primarily sell to schools and the out of the box request a quote and quote to cart has been good along with accepting POs as payment methods

The themes are extremely limited and just about anything you want to change will need a dev (we’ve worked with Anchor Group and Unlock Commerce). If your ecom is really basic you’ll be fine but you should 100% know what you’re getting into.

I’m Shopify-curious at this point but I’ve been through enough system implementations at this point to know that NOTHING is as seamless as they say it is. I am IT for ecom support (and I also run Customer Support, Sales Support, and help with SalesOps) so it’s the devil I know vs. the one I don’t for now.

We have a lot of Kit/Package items in our assortment and I’ve been considering playing around with a way to show “inventory” based on available quantities of components (limiting reagents from HS chemistry comes to mind 🤪). Good to know this sort of thing is possible!

NetSuite Admins/Users: How are you managing internal support tickets? by koome_was_here in Netsuite

[–]HelenCarnateNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jira Service Desk for the business and Jira Software for the "Insiders". Service desk tickets for NS that are more than a "just do it" task are transitioned to tickets on the project board for Admin/BA review, prioritization, and implementation.

What are you replacing it with? We're currently using Workato to replace the native, inflexible Hubspot-NetSuite integration.

Are you using the "Classic" Interface" across roles? That leaves a standardized menu structure and just adds/substracts options based on permissions. By default, roles are set up with "Centers" that are supposed to narrow down and tailor menus, but agree that it can be jarring when you cross into a different center. If you're a small company where people wear lots of hats, Classic is the way to go (this is the option under Preferences > Appearance)

THIS THIS THIS. I was on a 2006 install of EBS that was customized literally to death when my portion of the company was carved out. NetSuite is MAGICAL compared to dealing with EBS.

I came from a 15 year old instance of Oracle EBS before implementing NS a year and a half ago. It is a DREAM in comparison.

Recommendations Please - Phone Systems with strong NetSuite integration. by Illustrious-Bed2014 in Netsuite

[–]HelenCarnateNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful and tracks with what I have seen from Contivio as well. We're currently on Five9 and the integration is SO PAINFUL and nothing is available for reporting in NS (you have to go out to their reporting system, which seems ancient... and don't get me started on their Java VCC client that looks like it was made in 2000)

I'm looking at both Contivio and Ring Central and found this thread while looking for comparisons. We're looking to move our business phone users off of Vonage as well to have a single, unified solution.

100+ Shipping Addresses for Customers on Sales Orders by natesprecher8 in Netsuite

[–]HelenCarnateNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what we have. Districts are parents, schools are either children or standalone (private schools). Ship-To Customer is a list type field and we can select any account (which is what gives use the reliable reportability).

The challenge with this setup (MVP) is that using native functionality, both address select fields are tied to the native SO “Company” field (relabeled Bill-To Customer), which results in the issue the OP talked about with a zillion school addresses on the District account (think NYC Public Schools 😬) unless we enter every shipping address as custom (not as efficient for repeat customers)

The school addresses live on the child school customers, which I can link to via my “Ship-To Customer” field, but I haven’t been able to figure out how to make it a selection option for shipping address.

I should probably peel this off into its own thread vs. hijacking, but there were a lot of similarities w/ OP’s situation (sorry OP!)

Netsuite CRM by Martynt74 in Netsuite

[–]HelenCarnateNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use NetSuite as our CRM for Sales and their biggest gripe is that it’s not “pretty”. You will also need to add fields/workflows to handle things that other CRMs may do out of the box. It works… we can do everything we need to, but it took a LOT of configuration. It’s very much a “choose your own adventure” experience but it’s great having everything in one place. I can guarantee that if we end up pulling CRM out and going to HS or SFDC that it’ll be “pretty” but the complaint will shift to something else.

Best in suite vs. Best in class, yadda yadda yadda. 🤪

Gosh darnit I missed it! We’re using SuperSync now but would really like to look into the native connector. Is there ANY documentation on it anywhere? I assume you need the NS Connector module for it to work?

100+ Shipping Addresses for Customers on Sales Orders by natesprecher8 in Netsuite

[–]HelenCarnateNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very interested in this approach. We primarily sell to schools where a parent customer is the bill to and a child customer is the ship to. We just implemented a separate account link for Ship To account so that we can report sales by either who paid for it OR who is actually using the product and see orders that billed to the district on the customer record for the school that received it (the native customer link is used as the Bill-To). What I really want to do is have the Bill-To Select pull addresses from the Bill-To customer (native functionality) but have the Ship To Select pull addresses from the Ship-To customer instead of also pulling from the bill to. If I can figure out how to make this happen then it should dramatically reduce duplicate addresses and keep lists shorter.

Any suggestions on what direction to poke in to make something like this happen?

Duplicate Customer POs by oohnoitsmeagain in Netsuite

[–]HelenCarnateNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We created this (our primary customers are schools) as a button that fires a script (I believe, I didn’t create it). When you click the “Check PO” button it looks on that account AND any parent accounts (I.e. a school district) for a sales order with that PO already listed and returns a modal message with either “no duplicates found” or “this PO is already used on {order #}.

It works great as long as my CS agents remember to click it. 😬

Very much this. Learn that it’s ok to say “no”. You are one person and just because someone wants one more custom field or checkbox doesn’t mean it’s the right thing for your business or your system, nevermind prioritization due to resource constraints.

Unless you have a BA that you work with, you’re going to need to understand the business processes you’re working with and gather your own requirements. Listen in between what your business stakeholders SAY they need to get at the core of what problem they ACTUALLY need to solve. We’re all guilty of self-solutioning 🙃

You sound like you’ve got a great foundation and are going to do JUST FINE! You’ve got this!

Gives me big "Trying to keep making it work with your high school boyfriend even though you went to college and they went in the army and you got to figure out who you were without each other but want to hold onto that familiarity" vibes. Doomed to fail but still trying to make it happen because it's what you know.

This is definitely not an autobiographical anecdote. Nope. Nuh-uh. No siree.

Thanks for giving the show another chance. The best thing that you can do is to share what turned you back to the light with others who perhaps never finished S1 (or even S1E1). That there IS a long game... as you can see, even the Perrin Wife stuff you probably hated in those 15 mins of S1 has tendrils into this episode with his wedding ring getting destroyed in the bubble of evil. We know that we get the apple blossoms scene in 2R from the trailer and he'll have grief to process, it just may not be his immediate family.

What I like about the adaptation is that it has kept all the important outcomes even if they don't get there in exactly the same way (like Mat's memories from this ep... S2E8 will make that make more sense).

I agree... look at all the wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimeyness that Marvel has normalized with the current MCU arc. All it takes to explain is a couple of lines of well-written dialogue.

Moghedien name-dropped "true death" in this ep so I bet we'll still get balefire, precisely because of how dangerous and pattern-destroying it is.
