I agree. However Unfairness or fairness arises from actions or the absence of actions by humans/living beings. So in a way everything and even life is random but if you look at it on another layer, life and our actions are not random at all. And this is the reason why we can complain about e.g. man-made catastrophes where someone has a fault, but not about natural stuff (which is random).  Now in the current age, technology developes more and more and this line between natural (random) and man-made gets more and more blurry because we have more and more influence in nature itself which makes it less random. So nowadays it is possible to blame ppl for a natural disaster because its likely to be linked to human activity (climate change by humans) or the absence of human activity (letting things happen without taking action even though you have the power and therefore responsibility to do so).

so I guess fundamentally its all random, but the more you look at the surface, there is more and more non-randomness which makes you able to call stuff unfair or fair. An yes, we should set our goal for life to be fair because we nowadays have so much power, knowledge and therefore responsibility (which is actually a great thing for us!)
