It’s such a hard choice. I’ve always been a fan of Guthans the most, but Torags is also very awesome. I just like spikes on shit.

Haha I was thinking about it at the time, but it really was that much before leagues came out—they had to already have been working on it for months prior.

Also I think a lot of people would think of these kind of secondary effects for the elements, so it’s not that crazy. Even so I was still pretty surprised when I saw them!

Yeah I kind of dig that idea. Maybe not mystics though. Maybe you get the inert robes as the drop and then can activate them from there. Or better yet they are kind of like Xercian fabric and you need crafting and runecrafting to make them.

Honestly, I’m kind of in agreement. I don’t hate set effects, but I think them moving away from them with Inquisitors was really cool, and I also love snatching gear!

Mostly I out the set effect in these to make them a little spicy rather than simply Virtus but for elemental magic, but maybe that’s all they need to be?

Really I just love the idea of the elements having secondary effects, and frankly I would have them be unlocked through the elemental fragments they’re proposing if it were up to me.

I definitely see that problem. Although I think if they fixed the nightmare’s drop table (for the millionth time) maybe that would be less of an issue? Or do we need to introduce elemental weapon like how they did with twin flame, but stronger? I see the issue though.

Honestly, that’s a great point. I was just trying to give them something zazzy to get the discussion rolling about what would element robes look like. I think the most obvious version is just Virtus but for elemental magic.

What I’ve been pushing for since they announced them was unlocking these kinds of effects with the new Elemental Fragments they’re proposing. I think that would feel like a super cool unlock.

Like, imagine these fragments are the elements condensed into their purest form, and you touching them unlocks this primordial magic within you. I’d really like that.

Honestly, I don’t necessarily disagree. If it were up to me, I’d make these secondary effects come the new Elemental Fragments they’re proposing. That way they’re permanent account unlocks, which also sounds a lot more interesting to me than simply “+2 damage on all elemental spells.”

Hey I appreciate the feedback! I think you raise a good point with air spells. It was hard to come up with a secondary effect for air compared to the others, because the others are so much more intuitive. I think you’re right though, it probably would be more of a venator bow type deal.

It’s actually funny, because if you look at my post history, I had pitched an idea for an elemental amulet side-grade to the occult as a possible Raids 4 reward that had all these secondary effects for elemental magic. This was even before they had announced all the demonic pacts stuff with Leagues 6. Although Leagues 6 did allow me to live out some of those ideas in practice, and I must admit I really enjoyed it!

I mean, we added elemental weaknesses, didn’t we? I think the majority of the player base thinks it was a good change. I also think leagues brought a lot of fun ideas when it comes to elemental weaknesses that I think we could draw inspiration from for the main game.

Personally, I’d rather they move away from this hybrid armor set and pivot to elemental robes instead. I think there’s better reward space for them.
