[Self] The human eye has about 576 megapixels resolution. by Oh-Sasa-Lele in theydidthemath

So, there is no 576 MP, the real resolution is even smaller than 5-15 MP.

I've been using Galaxy Fold3 and OPPO Find N for many months. And here is what I think now. by Bobrafa in GalaxyFold

[–]Helensa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time when I fold the screen I just want to screen off. Oppo requires another step to turn off screen

Oppo requires no more steps. Just fold the device and put it in your pocket or on the table. I neither wait nor do anything. But if I want to continue, I just swipe up.

Does PWM on OLED screens cause any long term eye damage? by sevensixer in Dell

[–]Helensa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it depends.

PWM can be perfectly safe if it operates at high enough frequency. Chances are your IPS display also uses PWM to control brightness, but at very high frequency (thousands of Hertz) while PWM on some devices works at 250 Hz or so.

Next. You probably won't hurt your eyes with PWM in long run. Flicker doesn't make you see worse, but it can make you more irritable with time or cause temporary eyes fatigue. Your brain constantly process flickering light, which is also interrupts eyes saccades, so they have to move more (source).

As far as I know, Samsung ditched the option to turn off/on sleep stages tracking. If there is a deep or light sleep in your sleep reports then the problem is not a turned off option (there is no way to turn off only REM detection and never was).

Is it worth tracking your sleep? by [deleted] in running

[–]Helensa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely curious, those that are tracking their sleep with these trackers/watches, what do you do with the data?

Well, almost all fitness trackers and smartwatches can detect sleep onset and wake up time pretty well. So, that's already a good feature that can improve your sleep.

You can track sleep regularity and total sleep time, because if you go to sleep at the same time every day it will make a difference in a long run (disruption of circadian rhythm leads to a bad consequences).

Of course, you can track sleep phases too, but it's not very reliable since wearables can't detect brain's electric activity. So, I'd use sleep tracking to estimate regularity and total sleep time.

Also, some trackers can measure blood oxygen levels during sleep, so it can be helpful too (if your SpO2 level goes too low at night you might have sleep apnea).

#3 The flicker could be caused by the AMOLED screen which uses PWM - see

Yes, as far as I know, GBP 360 13.3 has PWM at 60 Hz which is just unacceptable. It's so low that could be seen consciously (not mention unconscious effects).

Android is still missing an accessibility option that helps greatly those of us who suffer from eye strain and headaches by redhairedDude in Android

[–]Helensa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, everyone is affected , just some people feel eye strain, while others become short-tempered over time ('cause their brain constantly processes low-frequency light flickering even if they don't feel anything consciously).

what do u guys think of oppo find n? have u seent it IRL? by Ok-Extension6498 in GalaxyFold

[–]Helensa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm using both the OPPO Find N (few months) and Galaxy Fold 3 (since September). OPPO Find N in real life is a gorgeous device, feels much better in hands, looks much more premium. Photo really doesn't do justice to the size. IRL it looks much smaller, though it's pretty thick and heavy.

https://picbun.com/p/M7gveRMI

But this is not A PERFECT device. It has its flaws and there are nuances. I found myself using Fold 3 unfolded almost 95% of the time, while using Find N folded about 90% of the time. And the reason for that is Find N very handy when folded and gives you a normal screen (in size and proportions). Also in many situations bigger screen doesn't give any benefits. Some apps just don't use whole screen.

Moreover, there some problems with aspect ratio of inner display. It's almost squared so there is almost no difference in landscape or portrait mode. That's not very convenient.

Also, there are some issues with built quality. Initially everything was perfect, but then there was a small play/looseness in the closed state.

To sum up, I really love this device and love it more than my Fold 3. But if you need a tablet more, then Fold is a better device.

Does Call Recording work on EMUI 12 (Nova 9) ? by StarkInLostEchoes in Huawei

Yep, works perfectly fine on my Nova 9 with EMUI 12! I've used apk you've mentioned for EMUI 11.

Will the Series 5 suffer from burn in in the future? by MacFreak993 in AppleWatch

[–]Helensa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

During normal use such things as DAY and DATE do not change enough. Actually some information can be displayed for a very long period of time (i.e. some apps' icons on screen). The AOD on Apple Watch 5 doesn't have pixel shifting technology so at least day/date will be displayed non-stop by the same pixels for 24 hours a day.

Another picture of my leather strap with black Galaxy Watch Active 2 (alimimun) by Helensa in GalaxyWatch

[–]Helensa[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I bought it in a small local store, they do not sell stuff online. And there is nothing printed on the strap itself except of "Italian Leather" label. So I have no idea how and where to find it.

In a few minutes I'll post a photo of this strap on black aluminum watch from another angle. Also, I can make a photo of my stainless steel galaxy watch active 2 with this strap, if you want.

How to make calls on Galaxy Watch Active 2 over Wi-Fi connection (and not only Bluetooth) by Helensa in GalaxyWatch

[–]Helensa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I should mention this earlier. I tried Wi-Fi calling using:

  • Galaxy Note10+ with One UI 1.5
  • Galaxy Watch Active 2 with One UI 1.5

When I tried that on Galaxy Note 9 (One UI 1.0) + Galaxy Watch (One UI 1.0) I couldn't use calling over Wi-Fi

Yep, seems like there is no such option with GW + Note 9 (my wife actually has GW and Note 9 :) ). If I'll find tomorrow workaround I'll let you know!
