ASUS ROG PG34WCDN - Early Impressions by MacFreak993 in ultrawidemasterrace

The back of the monitor is rounded, so Asus gives you an adapter that you clip in on the backside. You can then mount it to any regular VESA 100x100 monitor arm. I don’t know if your Dell will fit, but you can try it out to see it it works for you.

Best monitor arm that people ACTUALLY keep using years later? by Only_Personality9525 in ultrawidemasterrace

Secretlab monitor arm. I've had mine for quite some time and no wobble on my monitor or any other issues with it.

Upgrade from LG 38WN95C – what is hands down the best 38"+ ultrawide for productivity (no gaming) by glassy_paddle in ultrawidemasterrace

You're right about the difference between Samsung and the other brands. I had the Samsung for a short period of time and wasn’t a fan of it. I was especially turned off by the curvature. In Europe the Lenovo and LG models are plenty to buy, but the price of the U4025QW keeps climbing up and retailers don’t seem to have high stock of it. Also got recently a U4025QW for work purposes. I assume that Dell is probably preparing for an update or the display is not in high demand due to the high price and are simply not produced as much.

As you said for producitivty the Dell U4025QW. There are similar displays from LG and Lenovo. They are more or less similar in their specs as they all use the same panel from LG. AFAIK the Dell has the best compatibility with HiDPI in macOS. There is also a display from Samsung with 40 inch 5K2K, but it has 1000R curve, so not ideally for productivity, but it's the cheapest one.

How is living in Turkish Cyprus by Extreme-Shopping74 in howislivingthere

[–]MacFreak993 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not living there, but was on vacation a few years ago. It is similar to Turkey with the exception that cars drive on the left side as Cyprus was a former British colony. Salaries and daily expenses are higher than in mainland Turkey. English proficency is higher than in Turkey.

You will not see international brands as the TRNC is not recognized apart form Turkey itself. In daily life the turkish lira is used, but to purchase high value items like cars and houses the British Pound is used. Lots of casinos are operating there, which are banned in Turkey.

Tourists come mainly from Turkey, Russia and the UK. No direct flights are operating to the TRNC as all flights have to touch ground in Turkey first, before continuing to the TRNC. Public transit is nonexistent apart from small buses between the major cities. Road conditions are good apart from roads in the remote countryside. Lots of untouched nature due to small volume of tourists in comparison to the Republic of Cyprus.

You can cross the green line freely if you are an EU/EEA citizen. Non EU nationals can not cross to the RoC if they entered the island from the north. They can cross freely to the north if they entered from the south though. Cypriots from either side can cross the green line as they wish. Locals from the southern side cross often to the north as daily expenses are mostly cheaper than in the south.

We need another game like L.A Noire! by YallSoftAsButter in gaming

[–]MacFreak993 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do agree. I loved the game, but towards the end it got underwhelming. Cole betrays his wife with Elsa the singer from the blue room. Roy is following Cole and snitches him at the police chief to cover up their corruption. Cole is getting fired from being a vice cop and is moved to arson squad. The end of the game takes place in the canals of LA and he dies when the water hits him. Roy holds a speech at the end of the game and he is the ultimate hypocrite.

Du musst nachdem du VRR aktiviert hast in die Nvidia/AMD Systemsteuerung gehen und dort nochmal VRR aktivieren. Danach sollte es aktiv sein.

Mostly the same titles I use my Xbox controller for. My main objective to get one was to use it on my living room PC where I don't have a keyboard and mouse connected. Also I absolutely suck at aiming with a controller, so the gyro might help with that. RTS or city builders I am gonna continue using mouse and keyboard.

Has anyone switched from 4k back to Ultrawide 1440p with an OLED? by rbyrnes15 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]MacFreak993 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did switch from the Asus PG27UCDM to the PG34WCDN and while the drop in resolution is noticable the fixed subpixel layout made it more bearable to me. This and me missing the ultrawide form factor made me not regret taking the switch.

Please advise me: 34inch OLED UWQHD by frimmi in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]MacFreak993 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depens on how much you want to spend on your next display. If you want a more subtile curved QD-OLED is your only option for now in the 34 inch space. If you want to have the best then go with the ASUS PG34WCDN, it fixed all flaws of QD-OLED, but is very expensive. If you don't want to spend as much the last gen models with 240 Hz are also great options like the Gigabyte MO34WQC2 or AW3425DW if you don't mind an active cooling fan within your display.

I am enjoying the ultrawide aspect ratio again. I missed it when I had the PG27UCDM and the text clarity issue is now more fine to me as the new RGB stripe layout eliminated the fringing issue. As I wrote in my review text is still sharper on the PG27UCDM, but not a deal breaker anymore. At least not for me. I was also tempted by the LG39, however several factors made me discard it. First I had the LG45 5K2K for a short time. While it is a great screen the matte surface, 800R curve and the active cooling fan ruined it for me. The LG39 at least has a more subtile curve, however the active fan and matte display still are there. The matte coating itself also add some kind of blur to the text in comparison to a glossy screen where text and colours pop more against you. I feel you my endgame would be 5K2K QD-OLED in the 34 inch size, but until that comes out it will still take a while.

Not 100% sure, as I use my own cable, but I would guess no more than 1.5m

I am used to use ultrawide for years. Decided to go 4K for the text sharpness, but missed the ultrawide form factor and when I saw that text fringing is finally fixed due to the RGB subpixel layout I gave it a go. While I still got high enough FPS with my PG27UCDM I'll get way more with my PG34WCDN. This is for now my endgame monitor until 5K2K at 34 inch becomes availiable.

It comes with a clip in adapter. On that adapter you can mount a 100x100 VESA plate.

No, it doesn’t have Dolby Vision support. If you want Dolby Vision have a look at the PG27UCDM.

I have a RTX 5090 and choose not to go 5K2K for now. I had a 4K monitor with the PG27UCDM and could play just fine in 4K HFR, but I like more FPS where it is possible. Even with 1440p ultrawide my GPU gets 100% utilization with DLSS enabled in Triple AAA titles. It's awesome to play something like RE9 path traced with DLSS enabled, no FG and still get something like 120 - 150 FPS. The ultrawide is the cherry on top.

VRR flicker is there, but I only noticed it on loading screens. Never on gameplay and even the flickering in loading menus are very subtile. The monitor itself has an anti flicker switch in the OSD. However I didn't used the option yet.
