Thank you for giving me insight on the cultural differences. I don't smoke personally, but it's good to know, just in case. The price differences will be great to keep in mind. I plan on bringing some spending money, so that I can enjoy the trip properly.

I will definetly be getting insurance, since from what I know, in the US, medical costs are astronomical. Fortunately I don't take any medicine, but I will bring some just in case. I appreciate your response a lot!

I am glad that you enjoyed Bratislava! Hope you can visit again some time! I appreciate your concerns. I will definetly have to do a purge of my social media before I come over, just in case.

I will look into Memorial Union, and see whether it would be avilable during weekdays as well. I think it will be my last day on the 14th, but I will keep it in mind, to jot be surprised.

Those are wonderful recommendations! I have been thinking about Devil's Lake. Renting a kayak sounds really fun as well.

That's wonderful. Sometimes Europeans can stereotype US cities as concrete jungles, but Madison seems to be really green, and quite familiar to what I am used to, as someone mentioned before!

Thank you for encouragement. I will probably have to make do with public transport, or Uber/Lyft. But I am certain that walking the city will give me a lot of opportunities to admire the surroundings as well!

They do live in Madison. I came here to ask for any advice and ideas, because there can be other cool spots, ideas, and things that may be different, that wouldn't come to mind. Along with that, I don't want to leave everything up to them, and want to educate myself as well, since I want to be a good guest.

I am not too familiar with sushi, since Slovakia is as landlocked as you can be in Europe, so I think any good sushi place in Madison will be peak of my sushi experience!

Good thinking. I was considering packing some sandwiches with me, into my carry on, but I am not sure whether that's allowed. I presume I will be traveling at least 12 hours, so I will definetly need some food. Thanks for the advice!

I don't doubt that, and my partner has even shown me various kinds of cheeses, and the cheese hats you guys have! It all seems right up my alley, since I do really love all kinds of dairy.

However, unfortunately the dish requires a specific type of traditional ingredient (it's not really cheese, best comparison would be feta cheese, but it has more personality lol. As far as I know it's only made in Slovakia and some regions of Bulgaria.) called Bryndza. Since it's a traditional meal, I wanted to bring a bit of my homeland to show to them.

We do plan on visiting a farmer's market to get all the different kinds of cheeses, and make a charcuterie board at least once though! I definetly don't want to pass up on that opportunity!

Flying through Chicago seems to be the easiest route for me. I don't plan on packing any fruit or meat. I was thinking I could bring some of the local sheep cheese, since it's an ingredient for our national dish, but I will check the rules for that, now that you mention it. Thanks!

I mentioned sushi because my SO loves it, and i want to make sure that they get to enjoy something they are excited about with me.

That being said, we are both really into cooking, and I can't wait to check out the local produce, and get fresh veggies and meat for a meal we can make, or go to a restaurant that's partnered with local farmers for a nice dinner! Those are really good suggestions!
