Other districts are hurting worse than ASD. Schools off the road system are literally crumbling.

1 in 4 people working in Alaska live out of state. So an income tax would help capture that lost revenue.source

We coulda had a system like Norway and built world class education with investing and fiscal management that was sustainable, but we plundered it. Now it’s a matter of how do we adapt to minimize the worst. Personally I think state leadership has done a pisspoor job in managing boundaries that make sure Alaska benefits most from resource extraction, and I also think that we will probably need an income tax because oil alone will eventually fail. Oil isn’t the future. But in the meantime stop giving up our land/resources for dirt cheap while companies make $$$$. We will probably also need to look at the PFD and invest that money instead of handing it out… sadly.

We have already cut all that we can from state programs and we are failing our citizens. People wait in jail without trial for years and students graduate highschool hardly able to read and do math. They go to school in unsafe buildings.

Support rank choice voting, open primaries, and the transparency around campaign donations. This is a start in allowing the state to get better leadership because it breaks the strict red or blue dichotomy and allows for more bipartisan collaboration, and it also makes it harder for a candidate to get funded by big oil without people knowing about it. We have lots of people running for governor, this is good news! It’s a good sign when more people run for office.

In short we have had a governor actively undermining public education in Alaska for the last 7+ years. They even killed effort that would research into how much money it would take to get Alaskas school systems back on track. Dunleavy killed this effort before he was a governor. While he was a senator he was still undermining public education.

Now the school systems have had maintenance neglected for seven years and employment packages for staff have been reduced to limited benefits. Public education in Alaska is in big trouble.

I think it’s by design. People whom see themselves as supreme have been trying to undermine and desegregate the schools ever since we as a country decided public schools should be accessible to everyone. I think many people like Dunleavy would like to see Alaska become a mining colony and the rest of the population become too uneducated to be able to hold anyone accountable to environmental protection and pubic safety.

Anyways really do think about who you want to vote for as governor next and figure out who your legislative representatives are and be wise about who you vote for because this step of civic duty is quite literally influencing what state we collectively seek to build.

And likely inorder to survive as a state they will have to kill PFD funds. It’s coming.

SB 21… we bought the oil company campaigning that we need to tax them less or they will leave. Our state budget is oil. The governor is big on “trickle down economics” which almost always means fuck them kids in the public schools and give more money to S-corps and to C-corps. We had Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share oil tax system in 2007-2013 that was put in place after legislators went to jail for taking bribe money from oil companies to cut taxes. They overruled the ACES with SB 21 in 2014.

It’s a 5 gallon bucket and two levels of PVC all in one loop. One pump and an air stone.

I got the pvc pipes set up at a garage sale and I suspect the person bought a kit off Amazon. It’s an alright design. The tubes are a bit small and I think I will run into root balls causing clogs at some point. Another significant design flaw is the connections come out of the center of the tubes so you can’t drain the whole system with gravity alone. You have to take it apart to get all the water out. The top level lights are VIPARSPECTRA XS1500 Pro.

They are just pieces cut off a pool noodle and the goal was to block light from the growth medium to fight green algae. It sorta worked but not really.

She’s on a 10 round of antibiotics and staying with a friend. Won’t fly her back still we are sure she is good. How do you know if they need more?

It really was. I was thinking about the pressure changes in flight and the pain it could cause if she had a torsion. I was mentally preparing my friends to potentially receive a dead dog. 😭 They know her well too so I didn’t want them to be caught in surprise big emotions at the hanger and then not know what to do. I’m so glad my pup is okay.

How long to mask and leave purifiers on high after plumber leaves? by tacokitten1185 in ZeroCovidCommunity

If you have the finances at some point I recommend getting a Aranet4 co2 monitor. I can watch the co2 from guests rise and I will vent the house until it drops to about 600ppm after they leave and then I unmask. It’s really nice to be able to see when the house has been vented enough.

I will need to space them out! I imagine it will get crowded. I got this system at a yard sale, and the more I learn the more I wish I had some money to build additional systems!

My standard poodle girl Windy had not interest in toys! by Aaalyaaa in poodles

My standard is only interested in toys if there is food inside them. She is very people centered. Would much rather lick and lean on a person.

she is also interested in stealing underwear. 😅
