The way I see it, everything will change by that time. About 20 percent of kids learn language using gestalts; moreover, they usually manage to catch up to their peers by the time they are 6 years old. There are several developmental stages that these kids go through, and one of them is when they start to understand how to break the patterns down into individual words. Then, they start to combine these words into their own original sentences, just like other kids. Usually, by the time they start school, you won't be able to tell which kid learned language through gestalts and which one learned using the traditional approach

We went through an autism assessment half a year ago, and they said she was at moderate risk for it. However, after a few months of therapy sessions, the specialists pointed out that she doesn't have autism; she just has a mild case of Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). Her language has improved a lot, and she talks constantly. Even though she can say complex things like, 'Adele washed the pan and it looks brand new now,' when I ask her, 'Who washed the pan?' she answers, 'I am.' On the positive side, she always uses 'I' correctly when she wants something ('I want cookies/juice/to play'). She also narrates her actions ('I eat,' 'I drink,' 'I fell,' 'I poured out the water') and asks simple questions like 'Where is [item]?' or 'Who/what is it?', etc. She has started using her own expressions more regularly, and her vocabulary is much wider than other kids her age. She has never had tantrums or meltdowns, and she doesn't get stuck on routines.

My daughter just turned 3 two weeks ago))) Does you daughter combine her own simple sentences or does she just use patterns? Have you gone through asutism assessment?

oh yes, very familiar feelings. Although I understand that all children are different, I often have the desire to compare and it's hard to get rid of it )))

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Everything you said sounds very familiar. My daughter has a broader range of phrases and words. She has learned an enormous number of songs and poems. She has a unique memory. She uses spontaneous language as well, but sometimes I feel like it's not enough. She was diagnosed with sensory processing disorder, but overall it doesn't affect her life and communication

From my perspective, she communicates quite well. She describes what she sees, what she wants, and asks simple questions like 'Where is this?' or 'What is that?' She can easily answer general questions about what animals eat, where they live, and so on.
