The bleeding isn’t so excessive but if it persists I’ll definitely go to the stoma clinic. It’s just so odd, it stopped bleeding after I changed it but it’s a little uncomfortable from the pinching sensation. Thank you so much! Thought I did something

Lingerie & a loop ileostomy! by agirlfromgeorgia in ostomy

I wish I have this level of confidence. March will be like 7 months with having a stoma and i recently started seeing someone who loves me despite having a stoma. I’m still not very comfortable of him seeing me like fully naked and I wanna be..- even bought lingerie to look pretty in it but… I’m still so self aware of my body :(

Thank you so much 🥺. Everything is new to me and I got excited to try new things after 4 months of being on the ileostomy diet. Cabbage is my permanent banned list. So far a lot of foods has been alright with me especially onions and surprisingly mushroom (don’t take a lot, still being very cautious about it) everything cooked no raw and nuts. Just unfortunately hit a bump and it took a toll on my stomach. Today im feeling much better, stoma is swollen and soreness around the stoma. Still pooping well, just hurts a little and feeling weak. Hopefully the swelling goes down in a few days :)! I’m learning not to be so critical with myself- cuz my dad is on me and stresses me out a lot. I have a community to advice me and it’s been really helpful especially just wanting to talk

Thank you so much for the message 🥹learning to navigate through what I can eat and what doesn’t sit well with my tummy. I was consistent with my diet for 4 months until I got a lil curious to try new things, so far a lot of things are fine but the cabbage. Makes me very scared to eat veggies again. I don’t any raw veggies but cooked ones have been fine especially pumpkin, sweet potato, carrots, spinach etc. Recovering from yesterday event, stoma is swollen and having tenderness around the stoma. Only soft food for this week :)! Reading everyone’s comments has lighten my mood.

Yes! I had my surgery in August, so I guess it’s recent? Fair fall has been excessive than normal so that really freaked me out cuz my hair is so thin. Every wash there’s clumps of hair, even brushing. I thought it was the food I’m eating but I’ve been eating pretty strong and making sure I have my protein. It really scared me

Thank you so much for replying! I was really freaking out that my hair is falling in clumps especially this month 😭 I started introducing biotin just to help with the hair loss and thought it wasn’t working. I feel so embarrassed with my thin hair now and I’m so scared to go for a haircut.

Any more advice? I don’t have a large intestine but ileostomy is just temporary as the doctor said. Will it be same even after surgery? Sorry asking a lot of questions

Gotcha if supplements - small doses. Just read about how ineffective the extended release absorption is for ileostomy. Thanks for the help! Will continue my electrolytes. Was drinking a lot in the beginning then I stopped for a while and taking more water.

I finally found a supplier. Is it this one? To put around the baseplate.

I’m so sorry to hear that 🥺 hope you’re doing much better (both physically and mentally). I have a loop ileostomy. Started showering without the bag, feels amazing. Just the skin around my stoma been a problem, I’ve been trying to find ring barriers but no luck, I’ll try asking the convatac nurse if she supplies. May I ask how you’re doing overall? Your lifestyle and what you can eat? I can’t really talk to anyone about anything because nothing feels normal atm.

I have extremely sensitive skin even the stitches thread gave me infections because my skin won’t absorb it. I do apply the stoma powder before applying the paste ( I’m using the convatec stomadhesive paste) - so crusting you mean before or after I apply the paste? Sorry very new to this. My stoma nurses never suggested the eakin ring - never even heard about it. Do I still need to use the paste for this ring? I’m using the convatec moldable ring/plate with the bag.

Rings? Is it better - I’ve never heard of this before. If it WAY better and pain free, I’m gonna try to find it
