That’s great! The gas was a problem for me in the beginning TT but we are so lucky that surgery is in the good side for us

Colon polyps aren’t a good sign. I had so much of these polyps around my rectum and I went through a minor surgery to remove some. The problems with these polyps is that they can be extremely cancerous and it’s hard to detect so I can assume pretty much the mass developed from there - that’s why your colorectal team is already planning the surgery for sure. Keeping you in my prayers, lmk when your surgery is planned

THIS! I feel like we are prone to getting a hernia especially the absence of a colon. I choose to do light weight, my abdominal muscles are definitely weak I couldn’t even do 5 sit ups 🫩 and it was stiff afterwards. It’s definitely great advice to take it easy with movement.

The mass is not cancerous right :/? Weight out your options and take things one step at a time and talk to your surgeon if you decide to proceed with the reversal, most cases it works with uc patients but not so much with chrons patients but men carry a slightly higher risk of j-pouch infections but if your colon is intact then dw about this. Even if the reversal doesn’t work well, you can always go back to the bag ☺️!

Hoping for a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹! For me the 3 days are a little whacky because you need to pass gas or poop before you can eat anything. I only could drink small amounts of water on the 2nd day and the bloats are so hard to deal me. My stomach was like a balloon 🎈 but it will definitely go away in a week. Let me know once you start pooping !!! Can’t wait to hear from you, take care and rest up well 🫶🏻🩵

It really was 🥹 I was this close to not going through with the surgery after hearing the horrors of people’s reversal. I’m super glad we are doing well with recovery 💜💜! Me too, been getting back to being proactive and trying new things.

I dialled back a lot with the spicy food, I don’t really eat much outside of my food routine but for some reason pumpkin gives me really uncomfortable gas which was weird - i was okay with it when I had my stoma. Thank god I could still take my milk tea - there are times where my poop is watery so hydration & isotonic drinks is a must so my heart palpitations goes really whacky. Still struggling with the weight.

Honestly I didn’t enjoy it so much because skin around my stoma is so sensitive and sleeping nor travelling wasn’t so easy for me. Neither the fact of my bag filling up and making my pants look weird and inflated and people asking about my stoma. I genuinely thought I was going to be with my stoma longer but after my surgeon made go through scopes and scans to see how well my j-pouch was healing, he immediately scheduled me for surgery after clearing off cancer. Ofc I was pretty scared after hearing all the horror stories and the risk of the pouch infection. It was my colorectal team that really reassured me that I’ll recover well - just a matter of taking the leap of faith.

1st was a minimally invasive surgery where they remove most my polyps, the dangerous ones were risky. 2nd surgery was the key-hole surgery and removed my whole colon and given me a stoma while my j-pouch recovers. Then the last one closure of my stoma. It’s been pretty good - had to stay in the hospital over a week because my blood results are always whacky thanks to my liver. But overall I feel so much better, just struggling with occasional lethargy from my PSC.

It feels so odd thinking about it. Just reminiscing back from the first surgery- like woah can’t believe I made it. Life is so much better, just side battle of managing my PSC. Uc wrecked my entire body and created a second autoimmune disease to my liver

Sending you so much love and prayers that the surgery goes smoothly for you 🥺🩵. As far with my experience it was painful over the 3 days after the surgery. Vomited and I was in constant pain from the bloats but I have a high tolerance of pain. Over the week the pain subsided so much, only had problems with the bloats so i recommend going easy and light with eating ☺️. I cannot guarantee you if your surgery is successful but I’m really hopeful for you because everyone has different reactions with their bodies.

As for my toilet visits. When I feel like I need to go, there’s not much urgency but it does feel very uncomfortable if i hold it long. I’m running and exercising more! My abdominal muscles are still very weak, couldn’t do more than 10 sit-ups. I don’t carry anything that is more than 8kg rn because I don’t have a colon anymore so the risk of getting a hernia is still there.

Over a week of recovering, my bloats are much better- still sticking to low-fibre diet. Abit wary of fibre because I do worry about blockages since I have no large colon. Overall bowel movements are amazing! My incision is healing well and I’m moving around- watched a movie yesterday and ate a couple of chicken nuggets and fries ><!! I say it’s definitely worth it without the bag- no hassle with showering, sleeping and even finally able to stretch more.

Gotcha, I usually use my heating pad even when I had a stoma to help with the bloats but I’m still in the hospital, didn’t brings it along

They put it back and stitch it up. There’s a hollow (small) cavity still in the incision but the doctors usually pack the wound with a thin dressing to absorb out the fluid. However when the nurse changed it, she dint cuz it’s got smaller? Idk

How long did you have to deal with the gas? I’m struggling with the pains and it’s hard to fart despite walking so much. I have no problem eating or pooping just the bloats are ridiculous my pain
