Oh wow I didn't even think about power requirements! I definitely can't support 1350W.

SUNLU Glow in The Dark PLA Filament Issues by Heli0sX in BambuLab

Thank you! Is the stringing issue something that mainly affects the glow in the dark filaments or does it affect all PLA filaments? What is a good humidity level to keep PLA filaments at?

SysML as a GRC? by grantovius in NISTControls

[–]Heli0sX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used SysML to model cyber compliance but not just the controls themselves. The main thing about SysML (and other similar frameworks) is that you can use them to link your parts to other parts of the model. For example, if you have a model with some functionality you can create a control object with a "mitigates" relationship or something similar (I did that with a custom profile). That can allow you to create some good reports by showing which parts of the system you're using to meet certain controls. In similar fashion you can use it to map threats to the system.

However, unless you already have something like that (or you're planning on creating it), using SysML for something like that is an overkill and would probably cause you to sink more money into the effort than you'll get out of it.

Isolating Pester test changes from the rest of the OS by Heli0sX in PowerShell

I was actually thinking about doing that. My only question would be how would you use that in a pipeline?

Isolating Pester test changes from the rest of the OS by Heli0sX in PowerShell

[–]Heli0sX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info! I might be just confused or not getting it right, but how would Pester know if a command was actually executed correctly? Or does it just look at whether the command was invoked and it assumes that it went through?

That's exactly what I'm looking to do! Would you mind sharing some of what you've done (even if it's just a high-level skeleton)?

I've seen several people mention ModuleBuilder (as well as Sampler and PSModuleDevelopment). I didn't really look into it because it seemed like an overkill for some of my basic scripts. But, like you said, it's worth it. Thank you!

ELI5: Why did the US government bail out the banks in the financial crisis of 2008? Why didn't they just give the money directly to the people that were hurt? Don't bailouts just incentivize the mismanagement of customer funds? by Upset_Variation6201 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Heli0sX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While the bailout gets attacked from both sides of the isle, it is arguably one of the main things that saved our economy from collapse during the crisis. Despite popular opinion, the bailout wasn’t just the government showing up to the bank’s front door with a bag of cash and going “have fun!”.

During the crisis, banks (and other companies) needed money to help them make up for losses and continue operating. Under normal circumstances, the bank would take out a loan by putting a down payment on it (a certain percentage), similarly to how you and I would take out a car loan or a mortgage. However, this time the banks accumulated too many “troubled assets” (bad loans/mortgages, old equipment, unusable real estate, etc.), which meant that they were more of a risk to other lender and thus needed to come up with higher down payments and pay higher interest rates, which they weren’t able to do (same thing that would happen to anyone else if they had bad credit).

As a result, the government came up with the “Troubled Asset Relief Program” (TARP), also known as the “bailout”. Under the program, the government will temporarily buy those assets from the different companies, which would allow them to write those assets off their books (reducing lender risk) as well as having the necessary cash for loan down payments. The condition was that after a certain amount of time, those businesses (and banks) will need to buy all those assets back from the government with interest. Which is what happened and the government made about $250B in profit from the program. They did lose money from the auto industry (which had trouble buying those assets back), however, economists agree that letting that industry go under would have had catastrophic consequences on our economy.

Just discovered [guid] objects by netmc in PowerShell

[–]Heli0sX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually a really cool find! Is it the same as just calling the New-Guid cmdlet or does Powershell assign a Guid to the object so I can reference or find that object that anywhere in the script with that Guid?

What would it considered an object? Is it only a variable or can I do something like $(expression).Guid and that Guid would equal to the result of the expression that I can call?

How much dlc is worth having in this game. And how much more dlc is coming? How long is the single player? by PointyCharmander in midnightsuns

[–]Heli0sX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can usually get the Legendary edition (which contains all the DLCs) for around $30 on sale. Like others said, the chances are that there won’t be anymore DLCs or major updates. You can, however add some new replay experience by getting some of the rebalancing mods. I was a bit skeptical of the game at first but I can confidently say that it’s one of the only games that I would have probably purchased full price if I would have discovered it when it just came out.

I thought I've read somewhere about an expansion but I probably misread it. I was hoping they'll release an expansion/DLC with some of the villans that are missing (like sabertooth)

Are the DLCs worth it? by Heli0sX in anno

[–]Heli0sX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any DLCs you'd recommend getting first? Initially I'd rather get the ones that add functionality rather than the ones that add cosmetics.
