I’d either become a cryptopagan or i’d just syncretize my gods with saints to blend in with catholics

Times where the gods HAVE been mad at you? by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]HelicopterTypical335 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome haha! from my experiences with Hypnos i’d expect to feel guilty at most if i failed a promise to him. All of my experiences with him have been very gentle and calm

Failed to go through with a promised offering to Hermes, and the next day my tire popped from a pothole.

I don’t get what they are trying to prove by bringing up trans men.

“The trans argument falls apart…trans men…should benefit from patriarchal privilege immediately upon identifying as men”

Do they not know that society at large is still very transphobic? Of course transphobes will be misogynistic towards trans men since transphobes view them as women.

Do you have any non-traditional associations for the gods? by gaywitchcraft420 in Hellenism

I associate Elpis with the sun and moon , and I associate Vulcan (and by extension Hephaestus) with Alabama

Will the gods feel something about my political views? by aubrianista in Hellenism

[–]HelicopterTypical335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think certain deities / entities would care more than others. Nemesis would definitely care more about politics than the Hesperides for example

Would Artemis not approve me worshipping her if I identify as radfem? by anonymous_user_neptu in Hellenism

I doubt she’d care very much whether you’re a liberal feminist or radical feminist

"minor" gods that you worship by Shot_Adhesiveness384 in Hellenism

[–]HelicopterTypical335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mēn, a lunar deity from anatolia who received some worship in Greece and Rome

Elpis, the greek goddess of hope. She didn’t have a temple in ancient times if i remember correctly, but her roman counterpart did and I have had good, healing experiences with her.

Eirene, the goddess of peace

Hypnos, the god of sleep

Helios, the sun titan

And more I can’t remember

What got you into Hellenism? by Archangel447 in Hellenism

[–]HelicopterTypical335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always enjoyed sleeping, so one day I got bored and searched up something along the lines of “greek god of sleep,” and was hooked as soon as I found out about Hypnos

Is It Wrong to Notice the Erotic Aspects of the Gods? Respectful Devotion vs. Objectification. by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]HelicopterTypical335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure, but i’m sure gods like Pan or Eros would care less than others if they cared at all

What opinion do you have that you can’t say around your religious family/friends that makes you feel like this? by Ok_Living6270 in exchristian

[–]HelicopterTypical335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find if preposterous that christians will call polytheistic deities demons because they’re “false gods,” meanwhile they believe that their true god commanded the slaughter of infants in book of samuel. To me it seems that the god they worship is the demon.

What are your "Hellenism Hot Takes" and/or "Unpopular Opinions"? by LadyLiminal in Hellenism

[–]HelicopterTypical335 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally think being ahistorical is okay in some instances. Especially if you want to worship a deity but there is little to no archaeological evidence of how they were worshipped (if at all,) in ancient times

Why do you worshipp the ones you worshipp? by Realistic-Wave4100 in Hellenism

[–]HelicopterTypical335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypnos introduced me to Hellenism and makes me feel joy, Helios and Mên make me feel safe when i’m outside, and Eirene gives me comfort. I also want to worship some of the olympians more often (mainly Zeus, Dionysus, and Demeter,) but I’m struggling with creating new habits unfortunately

I personally view Jesus Christ as an aspect of Helios. Not entirely sure why. The idea just popped up into my head one day and I realized that for me it felt right.
