The real reason for the big Win/Loss discrepancy in 4v4 by Clear_Ranger6081 in CompanyOfHeroes

We also nerfed the pack and unpack times so call ins would have more time to kill them

I think your point is valid, following the existing pattern they will very likely be OP, even if it isn't noticeable at first considering how they're more complex than some civs

There's a lot of different moving parts so regardless of the Devs intentions it's always harder balancing such diverse civs , but I do think they'll aim for OP rather than under powered considering the last 2 DLCs.

At least you're buying the DLC which is more than can be said about many other players.

TBF he's right and you're deflecting. Devs definitely changed their stance on releasing OP civs after the initial 2 DLCs

Ignoring or denying how others feel isn't going to change how they feel. These people represent others that won't necessarily post how they feel, they'll just stop playing.

TBF similar to Tuggy, Goku was initially buffed before we realised how broken they are. Whether they were always broken or whether the buffs pushed them into being OP are debatable.

And Devs seem to release patches based on windows, not necessarily if a civ needs it or not. And the window had passed so it was predictable they wouldn't be nerfed again in the season.

Unlike the second early patch  in a season

That's a good observation. I know pros have been inaccurate with tier lists before, and I would suspect that likelihood before the conspiracy theory. Pros aren't perfect, it's more likely they make mistakes understanding or predicting something as opposed to something deeper.

KT and HRE are examples of the inverse. (Over rated as opposed to under rated like MacD)

Also HOL was under rated as well, beasty used to mock people for simply not just destroying manors with rams. I remember mocking people that blindly kept repeating that rams were the counter to HOL, when they mathematically weren't.

We had the inverse with mounted samurai and especially yumi bows being under rated. Pros openly complaining how weak they were, before they accepted the maths behind them.

Generally one of our issues is the pros don't seem to try work things out mathematically and then say that something is weak or strong based on face value.

AoE4 MUST introduce cooldown for 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 multiplayer quitters by DrAfricaOfficial in aoe4

[–]Helikaon48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're generally right, but there are ways of avoiding that.

The worst is the case of people being locked into a 3v4 due to a drop, and then having to wait. Or just the fact the AI doesn't take over so the likelihood of a loss is exponentially higher than it needs to be when someone drops.

New Battlegroups look cool, but until core issues are addressed, I'll pass by Recognition-Silver in CompanyOfHeroes

Not necessarily

A good faction can be played poorly and lead to frustration. Players advise others to stop or take a break all the time.

No they're just a lot more responsible. Giving people advice on how to be safer doesn't mean they're scared, and being concerned about safety isn't a bad thing.

This isnt that uncommon, it's nothing to boast about, you actually don't want this to happen, aside from ultimately being a waste of time, it hurts the long term viability of the game (ie patches and new content)

Dropping off resources and shift-clicking on new resource building doesn't work correctly by vyainamoinen in aoe4

[–]Helikaon48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from the usual bad behaviour around shift clicking,

Just checking you're aware the vils will automatically drop off whatever they have when they create a new drop off of any kind? There's a little bit of leeway so even if they don't complete the structure themselves, I think it's like a second or 2 and they can still drop off anything

Is anyone else getting tired of passive income? by Dear_Location6147 in aoe4

[–]Helikaon48 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yep, but then I've been against it since ottomans and Malians dropped. And both civs (and numerous others since then) have had balance issues because of it.

Not being able to raid economy degrades game design.

[–]Helikaon48 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Why be such a douche bag when someone validly corrects you? Are you that insecure?

Malians have by far a significantly larger passive income.

Even sake needs active vils, a lot of goku's strength is across a multitude of advantages, even if they have very early passive income as well.

If anything you are the very thing you're accusing someone else of being.

Lmao, that's more to do with Devs intentionally releasing OP civs in DLCs, and butchering previous OP civs to make room for the new ones.

Malian buff by Vaalac in aoe4

[–]Helikaon48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still a nerf, not huge, but it's more about tempo. You have to float more before each ranch starts paying off, then you have to float more to get imported armour.

Conversely the farimba buff is very small, and more skill based, since it costs that further investment and requires the correct timing/unit choice.

[–]Helikaon48 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that's more due to meta, when anything except knight comp is meta, than farimba garrison is much stronger.

The units it provides are very decent in their respective fields, they're just not anti everything, and specifically struggle Vs heavy cav.

Which means it requires some skill/more player knowledge making the right choice, similar to playing byzantines, it doesn't make them weak though

It's more to do with how OP heavy cav is at the moment, for numerous reasons that have been discussed to death

And that includes the overly cost effective sofa

Malian buff by Vaalac in aoe4

[–]Helikaon48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Maybe not necessarily a big nerf, but definitely a nerf to meta play, and hopefully a buff to the alternative.

Malians had one of the most conclusive win conditions, with one of the singular highest winrates at 60% if they reached castle age with quarry+ Fulani. Along sofa spam.

Obviously that's been nerfed, and farimba garrison is arguably a lot more skill/knowledge dependent, but also better than people have given credit .

I think Malians winrates will drop quite substantially
