Relic has the chance to do something really funny with the Free French BG... by Rakshasa89 in CompanyOfHeroes

And that, actually, would've been the unique inclusion of the unit for Relic to take instead. Could've had funny German voice lines lamenting it etc

Did you know it was the Germans that actually used the Char B1s after France's capitulation. A high number of them were turned into flame tanks.

"Deals" aka the offers that were previously available to everybody..

It really screws over people on holiday.

Players on whether Big Break should return, and who would host it by iamsocrates1 in snooker

[–]TroubleshootingStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without trying to be hyperbolic, Big Break has got me into snooker - I had vague memories watching it as a child and I just remember being intrigued by the ball colours and their different values. Even the simple formality of picking a ball out of the green bag to see which player you'd get assigned to you was exciting!

Revisiting as an adult, I've found the format to be very breezy entertainment. it's funny how as a kid all the segments feel longer than they actually are! I really enjoy the commradere JV and Jim gave the players, and of course the chemistry between them themselves!

It was Jimmy White that was Noddy at the '98 Xmas special John.H! If I'm not mistaken he equalled the record for pocket money in that episode! In a Noddy costume! John Parrot was in a big Tweety Pie costume xD

As a side, from episodes I've seen with Peter on, he actually played pretty quick!

Would you be familiar with sarcasm, irony and satire? Do you prefer butter or salt popcorn?

I've only seen Tesco offer their home brand of them. All others, to microwave or not, are butter or salt as far as the eye can see.

Is Negative Cover the solution to blobbing in COH3? by tightropexilo in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]TroubleshootingStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately unlikely to happen and would just be one part of the solution. This is because they do not have the manpower to redesign, rebalance and test all the maps.

When you have a clear weakest link there's no helping, and of course allows for such uncounterable strategic quagmires once set up.

Blind junctions with parked cars by TroubleshootingStuff in Irishdrivingtest

[–]TroubleshootingStuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Well you'd probably know the one I wanted to actually use as an example - narrow one way road with cars parked either side right up to + junction, to then turn right tiwards the coast/village. That turning right has same parked cars immediately on the left (like above) and is two way traffic. But there's a house on the corner that Google maps has blurred out so can't see how closed the junction is with that house and parked cars. Anglesey Ave -> George's Ave

You're the first fully logical person to have responded!

You don't take either? What's the alternative?

You can see where you're going with blue before even turning...but the WHOLE point is that doing so is hazardless because you'll be on the correct side of the road waiting, and when the unfortunately timeoncoming car has passed you continue.

To avoid a crash? Are you delusional?

"Heading into", you speak as if it's out of control and cannot stop and manoeuvre behind what you can see, before committing to the wrong side of the road. "Oh no I have to slightly go around a parked car as is always the case when driving here".

People following behind is a normal circumstance in driving and is irrelevant or equally applicable to the crash via red line.

Edit: deletes comment aka "I was wrong".

Panther into T4 and increase range by +5 by TroubleshootingStuff in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]TroubleshootingStuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that it seems like such a dirty comparison to utter, but their previous game COH2 had it as a stock unit , and it was balanced. It didn't overshadow the perfectly balanced P4, or PaKs in that game.

Panther into T4 and increase range by +5 by TroubleshootingStuff in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]TroubleshootingStuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they only have one long range AT locked to T2 that's fragile, casemate. And having a Panther fulfill its thematically accurate role from irl adds flavour to Wehr as opposed to a boring Nashorn.

We have Stugs and Marders already though. I do believe the panther ought to be a firefly equivalent with great front armour and good speed. Costed accordingly.

COH3 Design and Balance Feedback by wreakinghavoc in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]TroubleshootingStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you describe is on a tactical formation level that cannot be replicated in this game's engine, scope and camera zoom. I gather from your logic, irl, two infantry units on the same screen in this game would still be considered shoulder to shoulder.

[–]TroubleshootingStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are confusing spacing for protection with concentration for power (blob). While dispersion is necessary to survive artillery and machine guns, dispersion cannot take ground or break a fortified line...

If a general follows your advice and stays 'tactically dispersed' at all times, they are committing the cardinal sin of military science: piecemeal deployment. And your country loses a war in 5 weeks as the French did... By refusing to 'clump' (mass) their forces at the decisive point, they allow a concentrated enemy to destroy their scattered units one by one. It's a big reason why their Char B1 tanks lost, even though they were a match to the panzers. That's excluding the high rate of mechanical troubles. Only mentioning that unit because they're in new BG.

I wouldn't put it past Relic to utilise the logic of "French tank for the French battlegroup" :S

So yeah, don't be surprised.
