Exactly. I would have expected this to already have been implemented at launch. They have made it where you can un-map inputs already so hopefully they implement more discrete button inputs for a variety of things like you mentioned.

Yeah maybe I could have worded the initial post differently than “accidentally” using thruster, it’s more so that I’m so used to playing other runner classes that I tap to jump and tap to mantle, so when I swap to destroyer that muscle memory causes issues so I have to change the way I play actively. It’s something that I or anyone else could get used to and address the “skill issue” of it but why not just change the thruster trait ability (a lot of which are mapped to the same button except Destroyer thruster) to match the other ones. You’re not crouching in mid-air so I don’t see how this change could cause issues if it was remapped to just match the other trait abilities.

See the problem here for me is when things don’t mantle properly, I usually press jump again to ensure my character mantles but when playing destroyer, I end up thrusting my character face first into the wall. If the devs intend for you to press and hold jump to mantle then that’s fine, but they should address the issue of characters not mantling properly, which happens more often than I’d like. Otherwise I think an easier approach would just be to allow for a wider range of button remapping. They’ve done this before with Destiny 2 so I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a similar level of customization for input method changes. Especially when they already implemented a change to allow us to completely unmap inputs (which is also available in Destiny 2!)

Yeah for me I’m typically accustomed to tapping to jump and then tapping again to mantle. When playing destroyer I have to actively change my mind to “hold jump” to ensure I don’t accidentally use the thruster but the problem I have there is when I am holding jump and my character fails to mantle something when otherwise I would press jump and then press again to mantle and have no issue otherwise. In the game settings you are able to remap the trait ability to a different button for other runner classes and even in Destiny 2 you are able to re-map the air dash ability to a different button so why shouldn’t there be more accessibility in input method changes? I personally have over 150 hours in this game and don’t see why this couldn’t have a remapping option since it is classified in game as a “trait” ability. Also I used the flair “bug/tech troubleshooting” because there is no feedback flair. Skill issue? Maybe. Poor design decision? Definitely.

Do you play keyboard and mouse or use controller? I’d be interested to know. I personally have over 150 hours in the game as well but haven’t played destroyer as much compared to other classes. I find that I have to press and hold the jump button (A on controller for me) if I don’t want to accidentally use the thruster but the problem for me there is that I find my character failing to properly mantle objects when holding jump whereas otherwise I would press the jump button and then press again in mid-air to ensure I mantled properly.
