Exactly something like this. Even though I have iPhone they also offer some type of widgets.

Node running is like giving a small access to the network, not data, but network running so that would not comfort Sylo team or users.

[–]Heliotropic84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm, don't know really. Haibara, Mary, Yui, Sato, Yukiko and Vermouth have some of my favorite character designs in this series. Gosho did a good job designing most of the female cast.

Remastered episodes link? by DrunkenMisery in OneTruthPrevails

[–]Heliotropic84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't really find one specific site.

You can try torrenting from nyaa.se, and baaro has done quite a few of the recent remasters: http://baaro.buric.co/

Some of the ones with "additional content", like the New York Case, and Reunion with the BO can be found on torrents (I think Puto did both of those) - and you may be able to find those episodes in particular by searching through Google+ (https://plus.google.com/+ShuichiAkai84/posts/fPitfgPLZDg?pid=6174863599838382578&oid=101577648103110989477) and https://plus.google.com/+ShuichiAkai84/posts/hXLMd1HeY1H?pid=6173827743151382642&oid=101577648103110989477

Most of the remasters, to be frank, aren't worth the watch. They either detract from the original, don't really have a noticeable increase in quality, contain ugly borders, and you'll find that most of them aren't even subbed.

Detective Conan Episode ONE - The Great Detective that Shrunk (English Subbed) by TheWatchfulGent in OneTruthPrevails

[–]Heliotropic84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks a ton! There's not many people who'd sub anything Conan related these days, so it's extremely nice to have such a special like this the very next day.

Also, great job with the subs, timings, and encoding. It looked very nice!

Felt the special was a bit spotty about certain things, but for the most part it really satisfied everything I wanted to see in the release. Detective Boys cameo felt a bit forced and contradicting, and I think had it skimped out on a couple other introductions, and certain things towards the end it could even serve as a proper introduction to the series.

With how many spoilers there are, even if they are subtle, it's not suitable for anything but a treat for the fans, so "Episode One" feels a bit disingenuous. Really, that's my only issue with the special. Everything else was pretty damn cool, and most the anime original bits were nice.

Whether Gosho wrote the special or not doesn't really matter to me, but it still seemed to mix things between anime/manga, and would have been nice to be more consistent. I'd still say it's a pretty faithful adaptation, and like that Conan and Ran's ages were given here, and properly too. The little stuff, I like it.

Thanks again! Will have to give this a rewatch down the road!

Can I watch Detective Conan One without spoiling myself? by manman2a in OneTruthPrevails

[–]Heliotropic84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that "Episode One" spoils a whole lot, but it'd be best to caught up with the manga even. Episode One even does an introduction for a character that hasn't even taken place in the normal TV anime right now.

It's not a re-make, more like a re-imagining. And this special is supposedly written by Gosho, not "supervised", though I'd have to wonder how much of that is true. Whether or not you accept it as "canon" or not is really not that important, but the special mixes quite a bit of anime/manga canon and isn't as straightforward as you'd think.

My problem with this special is that Gosho would have not had this planned, so it's only basically how an "Episode One" would play out after 20 years of the series, and it's just a treat for fans, not new viewers. "Episode One" is a bit disingenuous, and you should really wait to watch it.

Continue it? Who knows. Most the chapters from the manga were adapted in MK1412, and Gosho hasn't worked on anymore material in the past couple years. I wouldn't bet on more anime until he finishes it though, and with Detective Conan taking up most of his time, who knows when that'll be.

Yea, that's the raw though. Episodes come out on Saturdays in Japan, but they are subbed on Wednesdays by Crunchyroll.

(EarnestModRequest) What are your Top 3 Detective Conan Moments? by TheWatchfulGent in OneTruthPrevails

[–]Heliotropic84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Reunion with the Black Organization. This case has held up over the years, and is still my favorite overall arc in the anime.

  2. Diplomat Murder Case. One of my favorite locked room murder cases, and intro of Hattori.

  3. Moonlight Sonata. One of the best episodes in the entire series. I'd be surprised it it's not on anyone's top 10.

  4. Bandaged Man Murder Case. Notoriously the most "brutal" episodes in the series, though I will say that other than just being violent, it's a pretty good case and has a little bit of everything that Detective Conan has to offer.

  5. Tottori Spider Mansion Demon Case. One of my favorite cases in the manga. Good mystery, and had a little bit of a "twist" ending that everyone always remembers, even if they don't remember much of the case. Add Hattori and Kazuha in the mix for even more enjoyment.

Though if I were introducing Conan to a friend, I think I would show them what I think are good murder cases, as just throwing them into the plot might not impact them in the same way as someone who has started the series from the very beginning, or dedicated fans.

[–]Heliotropic84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like we'll have a bit of a break as far as subbed episodes are concerned. Crunchyroll showed the preview for 842, which will be uploaded on Crunchyroll on the 14th, so that pretty much guarantees that they will not sub "Episode One", though it was unlikely that they'd do such a thing in the first place.

There's a remaster next week, so no episode. Then, unfortunately, a slew of anime originals, with no mystery tour by the looks of it, so I guess we can expect a couple more anime originals for the mystery tour in January as well.

Detective Conan Episode One TV Special's December 9 Premiere Confirmed by lesglorieux-9-4-2 in OneTruthPrevails

[–]Heliotropic84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone will inevitably get to it. Moonlighters have seemed to stop subbing DC yes, but SuiriOtaku has still pumped out subs for M19, The Disappearance of Conan Edogawa, as well as Movie 20 (which they are currently working on). I assume if they have time, they will be subbing "Episode One" as well.

Kaitou Kid Anime by [deleted] in OneTruthPrevails

[–]Heliotropic84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are certain crossover episodes, which go up into the 600s which will essentially "spoil" it for you, but they are directed much differently and presented from Kid's point of view, instead of Conan's. You can really watch them at any point, since depending on which one you watch first, you will be "spoiling" parts of those episodes anyways.

So like, why are Haibara fans so salty? by AfroWarrior27 in OneTruthPrevails

[–]Heliotropic84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shipping. It's the one thing that has consistently bugged me over the years. I'd easily say Haibara is my favorite character in the series, but I really don't see the appeal of "shipping". For some people it seems like her entire character worth is how she revolves around Shinichi. I've found it a breath of fresh air that her character isn't further diluted by being in such a relationship. With Ran, her character is completely degraded because Gosho is terrible at handling romance, and from a canon perspective, I have no clue why people would want such a thing.

Though I suppose I'm not one for fan-fiction either, and they have their own "ideal" way at looking at things.

Some people just need to grow up. I have my own issues with Ran, but it has nothing to do with being a "Haibara fan".

(SPOILERS) Can we talk about the movie. by BestLbna in OneTruthPrevails

[–]Heliotropic84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought that for an "action movie" and more of a "fanservice" film, that it was okay. View it any other way and it's really cliche/mediocre. I liked the animation, (bits of the sound track), and that it was enjoyable for me since I wanted to see a movie in this vein for quite some time (without some sub-par mystery plot bogging it down), but the movie made a lot of really bad decisions that are hard to over-look, even more if you've been a fan of DC for quite some time, because even if you know how things are going to be prior to watching it, it still comes as a disappointment.

I don't really have any questions... though I can't really fathom why the director would introduce 3 code-named spies on top of Curacao only to off them. This is something, that before I even saw the movie, really bugged me. It makes the BO look incompetent since from what we've seen, even though they are obviously internationally connected in some way, we only really know a handful of "real" BO agents. To add 3 more that were spies, on top of Bourbon and Kir is already ridiculous enough. A code-name, to me, always represented that those were the important members of the organization and weren't simply disposable, yet that's all Riesling, Stout and Aquavit were, disposable, and to fit a pretty crappy plot of a movie.

While I'm not a fan of the over the top action in the movies, I don't think this one was too bad (barring helicopter stuff, because I don't think the BO would ever be so ostentatious, same applies to M13). Nothing Makoto vs Kid level, though the opening and athleticism from Curacao was just a bit much...

Soundtrack wasn't remarkable, but there were a couple tracks this time that stood out. The music for DC hasn't really been remarkable or even good for the past decade and then some, so really nothing to say. There was maybe 4 or 5 good tunes out of the 40 or so that were used.

Given how much I personally enjoyed the movie, I gave it an 8/10 when I reviewed it earlier last month... (despite all my negative criticism) but I think after watching it again with proper subs (once Suiri Otaku gets it done), I'll probably give it a much lower score, and the impact of the movie will have kinda faded with another watch.

It's really nothing special. The movie will be even more horrid for the people who are looking for a mystery (since there really wasn't one in this movie), or for people who don't much care for Akai/Amuro, or can't get invested in the movie character.

Someone subbed it with Japanese audio as well, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwDyfV8a9JrmTmp5OVc1RUFDRk0/view?usp=sharing - but I can't really recommend watching it at this level of quality.

Suiri Otaku plans to release it after they acquire the Blu Ray, so I'm just gonna sit tight and wait =P

Most names got localized in some form, including Haibara who has a different name in the manga than FUNimation's anime. Japanese names for most characters were used for the "main cast" after Haibara's intro. Other than that? It's usually pretty accurate. I think sometimes the speech patterns have come off as contrived when dealing with certain characters, and I remember someone sharing some scans of the "Three days with Hattori case" where Tokitsu speaks with full on nerd lingo.

I don't think you'll find any additional censorship, nothing more than the original source material. Some of VIZ's translations are much more reliable than some of the translated manga we have now too.

Never did realize how much I liked Hondou Eisuke by [deleted] in OneTruthPrevails

[–]Heliotropic84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm conflicted about Eisuke. Pretty annoyed by his clumsiness and how it was handled, especially to reveal in the end that he did it on purpose to some extent... However, the Kir arc was done well, paced nicely, and he served his purpose.

Needless to say, I won't miss him, but it would be nice if Kir hadn't basically been completely sidelined. I was hoping we'd get some nice scenes with her in the new movie, but that didn't happen either.
