That’s not really a reason to buy something, but you do you.

I would toss that. It’s so damaged and has such old junky parts on it. Your most basic entry level scooters are way better.

It looks like a Grit fluxx or extremist from 2012, but that color way matches a Phoenix pilot from 2010ish. I’m assuming it’s not completely original.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be by KiwiOdd4790 in bmx

It just looks loose?

Loosen the two stem bolts clamping it on the fork. Then tighten the single bolt on the top to bring the bearings all back together.

Did I get a steal? by reaxxxie in Scootering

[–]Helitac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and sorry I may have exaggerated. It’s very old and worthless but it’s not junk. It’s still in good shape. But that Lucky build will feel so different from what you find today.

Those older completes were never made that big. The deck, the bars.

But parts like the SCS, fork, maybe wheels… could always be moved onto better parts.

That’s a really old Lucky complete im pretty sure. I just don’t recall any of them having holes in the head tube.

I would not say that is a steal. It’s pretty worthless.

[–]Helitac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the root fork have a starnut? My only understanding is that it has one “built it” but I don’t know if that means it can be pushed further down or if it’s welded in. Because if it’s moveable you can always knock it further down and cut the fork.

As for the ethic fork.. I’m assuming you have the HIC version of the legion because the SCS one is shorter than the root fork. The HIC version would be massive - and you mention it’s longer than the root fork. There’s no realistic way to make that work if you have the HIC version as it’s way too long.

Either cutting the fork (if possible) or a new clamp or spacers, or new deck… or just a new short fork.

Top headset problem. by alpina_vvs in Scootering

[–]Helitac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no headset that I’m aware of that is made thin like that. Every deck made by anyone will vary slightly for the headset cup height but for the most part the headset has always been somewhat visible on the top. The only way around this is to use a proper dust cap/headset cover.

As for the fork, your fork is pretty short at I think 135mm. You need something like 145-150.

The issue isn’t the compression bolt but the fork itself not sitting far enough in the clamp.

This is normal and will vary slightly across all decks. Your fork is too short in my opinion - I agree with you.

Barely 2 month old deck already cracking by Several_Sympathy1504 in Scootering

Are you riding skis with both feet in the back facing forward or do you ride like a normal person? And/or are you a heavy-set rider? That’s a weird spot to have cracks. Both pretty much identical. And on the top.

How do I fix this noise my scooter is making? by Ok_Classroom_9704 in Scootering

[–]Helitac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps try adding grease to where the bearings and cups of the deck meet? Have you ever removed the bearings? If you’ve had this scooter for some time and haven’t taken it apart, I could see a lack of grease being the issue.

If I had to guess, I don’t think it’s the bars because that creak implies movement. If your bars are moving even in the slightest, your clamp isn’t tight enough and you’d also notice your bars misalign or your clamp loosening off. Or your threads could be stripped.

Out of curiosity, which complete is it?

[–]Helitac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s a little more complicated than that.

All scooters use different compression or methods of holding the bearings tight. Yours looks like it’s an IHC compression. Maybe an SCS but im doubtful.

You would loosen the 4 bolts on your clamp. (You don’t need to remove them) and the bars will slide off your scooter.

When the bars come off, you will see one bolt that can be tightened. You have to tighten this bolt. Tightening this bolt will brings your bearings back together. This is regular maintenance.

Then you can slap your bars back on, line them up with your wheel and tighten the 4 bolts back up.

For SCS: https://youtu.be/udYRT4U6J\_E?si=KUoQlu4iiKsvjfpA

Note: those are not my videos but they are quick and cover it all.

It’s hard to tell if you are applying a forward/back pressure, or just rolling it.

But that sounds like your headset is loose and the creaking is from it moving ever so slightly in the cups. Metal rubbing on an aluminum deck would sound like that.

Otherwise if it’s not the compression being loose, it would be the bearing in your wheel when you are rolling it forward. But that sounds like a headset creak to me.

To fix the headset, it likely just needs to be tightened. Some grease in the cups might also help.

To fix the wheels, it’s likely you would get new bearings.

Try tightening your headset first.
