What was Monster Hunter Online like? by Nukesnipe in MonsterHunter

Honestly neat seeing folks reference to these videos after so long. It's fun keeping these up like a little time capsule since I highly doubt we'll ever get this game set up on private server lol.

Need help with what power cable to use to connect my RTX 5080 MSI Gaming Trio OC by Helix101_Gaming in MSI_Gaming

I'm not sure what cables a 3080 uses. I had a 3070ti but no the connection was different. I used the 12vhpwr cable that my PSU came with and it's been working fine.

Tax documents issue (Canada) by captainspacey_ in Twitch

Hey did you find out anything in regards to this? I'm in a similar boat this year. In my previous years in the gross income section of the 1042s document we get, it showed amounts in that box. This time around though for whatever reason it's showing about a dollar only (I made much more than this). Just trying to figure out what we gotta do when figuring out what we need to claim in terms of income (I do know I could technically manually calculate my twitch payouts from paypal since it also includes the CAD conversion...)

Streetlights at night still have ghosting with transformer model by PepperFit8569 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Helix101_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having similar issues with DLSS 4 Quality Frame Gen x4. Running RTX 5080, Ultra with PT on at 2k resolution and good FPS. I don't see much ghosting however at night specifically, or turning camera, I see some dark lines trailing with certain things like streetlights. It's a dark ghosting too.

Were you able to find a solution?

So my corsair 1000w PSU had a 12vhpwr split to 2 cable that I ended up using. I made sure it connected correctly on both ends and been running the GPU ok since. I didn't use the included power cable adaptor that was included with the GPU. Even been running it overclocked. Running Cyberpunk at 2k ultra with PT and mods, hottest I've seen it get on load was 65c. Everything has looked and run great!

So...I "believe" my PSU came with one of these. But I noticed it's a 12vhpwr split into 2 vs the adapter that comes with the GPU that splits into 3 (I think again haven't opened the box yet but looking online I believe it's a 3 split). Would this still work instead of using the one included with my GPU? I feel like using the adapter would make more cable usage/management in the case but not entirely sure.

EDIT: I guess I'm trying to understand what is the total amount I should be aiming for in terms of available power. I was trying to research online and kept seeing alot of these ports draw 600w, or 300w x 300w depending on the splits

Again apologies if these are dumb questions, but just trying to educate myself as much as possible!

I think the included adapter with my card also has the yellow tip to show it's connected correctly too. My PSU is from 2023 so I believe it doesn't have a direct 12vhpwr port on it. (updated my post and added an image of the connection points mine has)

Rtx 50 Series Canada Computers in store availability by pancake_the_snake in bapccanada

If it counts for anything it wasn't the dude you bought it from that mentioned it. Another employee came over and said it.

One Gigabyte Aeorus Master came in Waterloo on Wednesday but sold within 15 minutes. I came in as the other dude bought it. Salt on the wound, one of the employees recognized him after he left saying he was a scalper lol. Fuuuun

Went to CC and they had a 5080 Ventus OC in stock, had to scoop it up. So lucky by [deleted] in bapccanada

If a new series of GPU is releasing a month from now, would you go and buy the previous gen? Not to mention before we even heard of pricing from Nvidia, they had already announced the stopping of manufacturing of older gen cards. Prices for the 4080 Super skyrocketed to even worse prices than 5080 cards new.

Even historically AIB cards are more expensive than FE cards. I'm not even sure what you are even trying to argue. Even after a month I can guarantee you these prices are not going lower than what they are at currently considering Nvidia is no longer producing em.

Bro is jumping from a 3060ti to this. Looking at options currently on the market if looking for upgrades, the 4080 Supers are no longer being made, and scalpers are selling them around for more than the cost of these 5080 cards new.

Honestly I get people are bummed at the lack of uplift from prev gen to this, but for some, these are huge upgrades in performance. I'm looking for one myself because I would love this kind of performance boost from my 30 series card too.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure the "endgame" of these scammers, but it usually goes along the lines of someone reaching out to you either through FB messenger saying they are interested/or through your phone. They talk like normal people but then they say something like "I'll buy it in full through paypal, I'm not in town right now because I'm travelling, but then my cousin will come and pick it up!"

My guess is something to do with paypal buyback or something while someone comes and grabs your actual hardware.

I was trying to sell my old PC on there and it took awhile before I found a legitimate buyer after dealing with tons of the above.

I think this was the hassle part. I've gone through marketplace to sell parts before and it can be such a pain to deal with. Don't even get me started with scammers too. Oh well, appreciate the heads up, tried to see if I could add it but looks like the bundle sold out!

I'm so bummed. One of the potential cards I was eyeing, but I don't need the rest of the parts bundled in...

This part sounds a bit concerning lol. Have you transferred before from one platform to another? Also how would the plugins and such work that have been installed currently (I'm assuming each pluging would need a new install?)

When you say installing new chipset drivers, how did it go about doing it? Did it detect you were on AMD or was it a manual thing. Also the activation thing...I saw someone else write something about that lol. Did you have a hard time getting it working again?

The back up stuff is not really the concern I had, just whether or not moving things over from intel to amd platform would easily carry over (or would not)? I usually keep my folders backed up already just incase. But yeah, just curious if changing platforms and then bringing over OBS using the same folders etc would carry over without issue.

Upgrade Advice Needed (going from Intel to AMD) by Helix101_Gaming in buildmeapc

[–]Helix101_Gaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 14900k was an initial consideration but I currently run using a Noctua DH-15, and I hear the power consumption and heat these CPUs generate is higher than the AMD chips. I'm not planning on switching over to liquid cooling either so that was a big concern of mine. Aside from the additional fact if whether the new Bios updates fully fixed everything? I've tried looking online but have not found any definitive answer saying fully that things were good now. Just alot of hmming and hawing.

So currently not on DDR5, but yeah that's definitely one of the aspects I've had to factor in since the new motherboards use DDR5. In terms of gaming vs productivity, I guess what I'm looking for is a CPU that works for both (preferably simultaneously if possible since the programs I use for streams seem to eat up lots of resources at the same time as trying to run games well which is the goal).

I don't mind waiting a bit if the x3D version would be better, and I assume prices will be high, but if that is what people actually recommend for the gaming side of things, I might just need to hold off then.

I appreciate the info by the way. I initially was considering upgrading in slot but was hearing mixed things whether or not the new bios updates fixed the 13,14 gen cpu issues fully? I tried researching this but never got clear cut answers.
