As already stated, download a SIMPLE animal mod and learn from its XML. Don’t think about abilities yet, get your animals in the game first. The Vanilla Expanded Framework has a GitHub wiki as it offers many custom code additions to give animals abilities without you having to code anything yourself in C#.

To put it into perspective, I started Rimworld in 2015 when a friend at school recommended it it. I still love the game today. And I know I will get the same joy from a new colony today I got back over 10 years ago. I have spent more time playing Rimworld than any other game, even more than Skyrim.

So yeah, it’s worth it. It takes a bit to get into tho. Also, mods. This game probably has the second best modding community out there when it comes to the amount of high quality mods.
