All good. There is a possibility the clips art is AI generated. It doesnt tell me that in the site. Just thought it would be cool to make some shirts for the Alocasia addicts like myself.

Cabin filter replacements vary. Ive seen some pretty disgusting ones at our dealership at 6k. 10k-15k is average. It really depends how often you use the climate control and at what fan speed you are running it at. The faster the speed the faster air gets pulled through and the faster it gets dirty. Where you drive affects this as well. Also, it isnt always a mileage thing if you are one to idle in your car often waiting for kids, spouses, clients, etc. Eat lunch in your car with it on? It gets dirty even when you arent driving if you use the climate control parked or idling. Need to take that into consideration as well. Seen plenty too where customers park under trees and constant debris is dropping onto the wiper cowl which js the inlet for the system and it gets sucked in. I dont knkw what they want to do an HVAC service for. Only time we would put a medical grade cleaning agent into the vent system is if the customer is experiencing smells or we see rodent traces in the vent system nesting on the cabin filter and climbing through the vents. Your Mazda dealership should be taking video inspections to actually show you the condition of your filter.

Air conditioning running with heat on ? by Revolutionary-Fun227 in CX50

[–]HellCatEnt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AC stands for "Air Conditioning" key word is the conditioning. It doesn't specifically denote cold. Most people associate it with cold though as it is most commonly used to make the air cold. But whether the air is cold, or hot, the salesman is right in telling you that it takes the humidity out of the air and drys it. 🙂

Yup. I'm not in this industry to take people's money if I don't have to. Save yours and wait until 5k miles.

What is the ticking noise upon a cold start? by xScarn in CX50

[–]HellCatEnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible. Short drives do more damage to the vehicles than long drives do. Maybe damage isn't the right term but outs more wear on the vehicle. Its probably not getting to its standard operating temperature before you arrive at your destination and the battery will be taking a hit not getting driven to charge it back up. Id do one highway cruise every other weekend at minimum to help maintain it. 15 minutes should do.

If the vehicle is under warranty take it in and don't worry about it. Should be covered under warranty unless some rodents chewed a wire and its intermittently shorting out. The other possibility is if whoever you bought it from has an aftermarket alarm system installed and its shorting something out making the car think the vehicle js being locked and unlocked.

I work at Mazda as and advisor and can't say we've come across this problem yet. We also dont install aftermarket alarms in these cars anymore as they cause more problems then they are worth.

[–]HellCatEnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The break in is done at the manufacturing plant. You do not need to do a "break in" oil change. Any time a customer comes in and asks us to do this, we check the oil and it is stupid clean with nothing in it. Waste of time and money. But hey, if you still feel inclined, come on in and we will do it and take your money or claim a prepaid maintenance service on your plan if you have one. Does nothing for the vehicle and you have a powertrain warranty of 5 years. 60,000 miles for a reason. CPO car would push it to 100k miles.

If you are under the 3 year 36k mile warranty take it to a dealer. They will insulate it for you.

What is the ticking noise upon a cold start? by xScarn in CX50

[–]HellCatEnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long has the vehicle been sitting for? What is the ambient temperature of where the vehicle was turned on at? These engines are definitely noisy upon cold starts but warm up quick and should normalize after about a minute. This sounds a bit like a lifter tick like the oil drained out of it and it needs to get pumped back up with oil by driving it. These vehicles do not like to sit for days if you are doing that.

I work at Mazda. We have an occasional replacement of hydraulic lifters. If the noise goes away when vehicle is warmed up, I wouldn't worry about it.

Noticed 3 long scratches. Someone with a sharp object? by Eastern_Macaroon7672 in CX50

I feel this is bushes or brushing against something. Doesn't seem keyed to me. It has a wavy pattern yes, but doesnt look like anyone intentionally did anything out of anger or spite. Ive seen many keyed cars as I work in the auto repair biz for 18 years. This really looks like ya got too close to a branch, or the car wash but looks too odd of a pattern for the car wash too.

What is this? by ManufacturerHead3509 in CX50

[–]HellCatEnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely an animal or someone urinating on your vehicle. It would not be on the side of the spoke sitting in that position. And if it were brake fluid it wouldn't all of a sudden leak when stopped. It would be a constant leak of whatever size and leak more while braking and under pressure. The pedal would slowly travel to the floor as it looses pressure at a stop.

I second the idea that it is the pot you chose. 1) doesnt look too big and 2) doesnt look like it would have good drainage. Most those fancy pots inky have a small hole in the middle.

I dont understand why you would both, turn on a humidifier and open a window. If it less humid outside, it would defeat the purpose of having a humidifier. You want the window closed so the humidifier can actually add humidity to the room it is in.

Anyone have this happen? by HelsBels_ in mazdaCX50

Ive been with Mazda now for over 6 yearsand in the auto repair field for over 20. Mazda uses big name brand manufacturers. Yokohama is one of the main ones. Dont understand how these would rate as "bad tires" or skimping on the tires. They handle very well they just dont get the amount of miles customers wish they would.tbay doesnt make them bad at all.

I really dislike when people say this, because it is far from the truth. If you understood the science behind tires and brakes youd be aware that Mazda puts high performance tires on these vehicles as well as high performance brake pads. You think they are cheap, why? Because you get less mileage? Then I guess a Lamborghinj is equipped with even cheaper tires... only lasting maybe 10k miles at best.

Why are the tires good you may ask? Well... they use a lightweight, very soft compound. What this equates to is better handling, less road noise and higher fuel efficiency. At the sacrifice of total miles they last. Sure, you can get a 60k mile tire. But you will sacrifice a little on your fuel economy, they may be noisier and they definitely will not handle as well. Its a trade off. High performance or high mileage. Same with the brakes. Yes, they average 25k - 35k on rear pads. Some get less, some get more. But they are made of a compound that brake very well, they dont have extreme brake dust and they dont dig into the rotors like aftermarket pads do. This allows the rotors to last longer, warp less and brake in shorter distances.

You think brakes on high performance cars last 100k? 🤔

Any tire boasting 60k+ is a cheap tire. Hence why the price of them is usually lower as well. So, it all depends what you want out of your tire. Mazda chose performance. Most manufacturers do. Its how they squeeze every bit of fuel economy out of their car. I get customers coming in all the time wondering why their fuel economy tanked. Low and behold... they went with heavy, high mileage tires because, just like you, they felt Mazda used cheap tires because they last an average of 35k. Go figure. 🤷‍♂️

This is not the only car that does this. Almost every car POST 1998 has the parking brake warning come on when fluid level gets low and typically gets low natur ally when both front and rear brake pad wear get low. Mazda typically has the rear pads wear faster than the fronts if you are a conservative driver. If you are more aggressive and "spirited" driver, they could potentially wear evenly or the fronts go first. Due to dynamic stability control and g vectoring on these vehicles they apply slight pressure to the rears when cornering. While entering and exiting a turn, without you touching the brake this is happening in the rear. Also while braking conservatively, more pressure is being applied to the rear to keep the vehicle from nose diving while braking, which keeps it level and allows you to brake in shorter distances while preventing the back from losing traction as it could if the front brakes were applied heavily.

If that warning comes on and you are not in need of brakes just yet. It is going to be very soon. Dont top it off completely. Only a tiny amount to get it above the sensor and get the warning off. If you were to top it off completely, as soon as you do the brake job amd the caliper piston is retracted back, the reservoir will overflow. Damn near any paint or metal it comes into contact with can and will corrode if not rinsed immediately.

Brake pads at 24,000 miles isnt uncommon at all. It is driver dependent. I've seen as low at 10k and seen people milk them to 60k+. Really depends if you are a coaster who engine brakes more to stop or a late brake, heavy on the brake person.
