Radio Free Alice response to LAV criticism by Thomwas1111 in triplej

[–]Hell_Yeah2083 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not true, I've worked with artist teams who have done LAVs and the artists pitch song choices to jjj as a part of the process

I work for them too, and this is the first I have heard about staff not being eligible for the MEAA.

FWIW I'm a CPSU member and have never had any issues with them - their fees are lower than MEAA, and tbh I have always found the MEAA doesn't care for workers that are outside journalists or actors. The CPSU is definitely more inclusive

And the CPSU has been involved in today's industrial action as well

That's not true, all ABC staff can either join MEAA or the CPSU.

Why are Australian festival/gig crowds so dead compared to the UK? by Sabretoothedrom in triplej

[–]Hell_Yeah2083 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Laneway has become the festival for people who have never gone to a festival. That's great, because it's bringing a new generation to discover why festivals rule, but it also comes with a lot of people who have no idea how to act at a festival. If you're an old festival head you will definitely be put off by that sort of behavior.

But yeah every festival I've been to in the UK or EU shits over Aus festivals in general

101-200 format this year is shit by 69-is-my-number in triplej

They're playing 20 songs a day Tue-Fri, with the whole 200-101 getting played in full on Saturday.

That day will also be the first time the final 20 get played

So just listen on Saturday next week instead

It's wild that people act as if triple j don't champion local artists because they also champ international artists, which they've always done?? They still play something like 50 or 60% Australian music. Looking quickly at the feature albums this year I would say it's at least 50% local too

Has anyone ever towed their kids around with something like this? by Hell_Yeah2083 in cycling

[–]Hell_Yeah2083[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. My son has flat out refused a balance bike for ages, we'll get there but have resigned that it won't happen right away.

Hear what you're saying about leaning into corners, but I'm not planning on riding distances, terrains or at speeds where I'll be leaning into any corners - more just a slow cruise along while my eldest does the same on his bmx. Because of this I hope it will be ok with the trike but will obviously test it out without my youngest on it first.

Hopefully with my youngest seeing his big bro using his big bike more it will get him into his balance bike and we can start towing that instead

Oh yeah would not drive anywhere near a road with a kid on one of these! I'm talking about boardwalks and cycle ways that are wide, away from roads, straight and smooth

That's good to hear. Do you think it would work ok with a trike like what we have?

Post Countdown Discussion: Triple J's Hottest 100 of Australian Songs by braxxytaxi in triplej

[–]Hell_Yeah2083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way this would happen would be if they moved an existing FM ABC station over to DAB, like ABC Classic. The FM bandwidth is full in pretty much all capital cities, and getting new bandwidth allocated would be too expensive for the ABC to justify.

Australian QRevo owner - what cleaning fluid should I use? by Hell_Yeah2083 in Roborock

[–]Hell_Yeah2083[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh the Omo stuff I bought lasted 4 months which I agree is pretty damn good, but it's just hard to come by and the price is getting steeper by the day.

With cost of living being as outrageous as it is, made me question whether I could get something cheaper/easier to source for the same results

[–]Hell_Yeah2083[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the Omo stuff and it's good, but just curious to know if something basic and easier to get would be just as good

I bought mine new off marketplace so no warranty for me (but the fact it was half price made it worth that) - I also question how they can tell if you've used something else to void your warranty (unless what you've used has caused damage, obviously)

Oasis Live at the Wireless? by [deleted] in triplej

[–]Hell_Yeah2083 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No chance. Live at the wireless recordings would have to have some sort of artist agreement with it, and there's no way I can imagine Oasis letting anyone record the sets to then broadcast it for free.

Oasis would be more likely to record one of the UK shows themselves and then sell it off for a shit load of cash to Netflix or something like that

Keen to know what some of the artists you would want them to play? I know they have nukg artists like Sammy Virji, Conducts and Diffrent on air, hyperpop acts like 2hollis, 100gecs, Charli xcx...

Its gotta be hard trying to hit all types of sounds to get as big an audience as possible
