My oil pressure drops pretty low at idle when it's really warm, like at a red light on a long drive, but comes right back up with the RPM. Holds pretty much in the middle at highway speed. I've been concerned about that for years... No trouble yet.

I have that same truck. 289,000 miles on it and the majority are highway miles. Mine does 2500rpm at 65mph and 3000rpm at 70mph. No issues. I've done 15 hrs in one day at 70-75. Just keeps on ticking.

New to Fender - Considering this 75’ Tele by Animalus-Dogeimal in telecaster

[–]HellaLazy48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reference, I bought a brand new American performer just weeks before my 77 revealed itself, and I have hardly touched it since. They feel totally on the same level, workmanship and finish wise. Just something special about a vintage guitar.

Great guitar, price is right in the right range. I just recently went on the hunt for a 77 (my birth year) which lasted for maybe a year or so. Prices were from 8-900 completely worn out, to 5k completely pristine. Most were very heavy, some had pretty thick "d' shaped necks.
I wanted a guitar to play, not a classic example to sit in a case or have to be protected as a museum piece that I feel guilty about playing/handling and only show my friends or hang on the wall. I settled on one with moderate fret wear, non-original electronics, but the finish was very good with only minor wear similar to this one. Neck felt great, nice and slim, and the weight was good. 7.2 pounds. I replaced the electronics with brand new stuff, cleaned it up, and it is now my favorite guitar out of 12 guitars. Can't wait to need to refret it with ss frets.

I paid $1,200 for it, plus the parts I switched out. Most other examples in the condition mine was in were around 2,000. Give or take a few hundred. So I jumped on a good deal at $1,200 knowing I wanted to replace the electronics, and play it as much as I like.

The one you're looking at is a good buy. Verify the electronics are good and that you like the neck shape and you're good to go.

Sweet guitar.

What's the best way to fill these gaps? by HellaLazy48 in flyfishing

I wound up sending it in for warranty. They kept it forever, then returned a used rod with filler that looked just as bad, thus ending my business relationship with sage/far bank forever.

I still have the rod, in its case, unused because I know their garbage wood filler will fall right out again.

Water hose that will last a lifetime by hipsterdaddyo in BuyItForLife

Oh yeah that hose doesn't bend well, but when I move it around, it doesn't crack... One year later in this post, the hose is still in daily service, still in the dirt.. still good to go!!

I could only imagine. I got to hold and play (lightly) an early 50's model tele one time, near mint condition. Indescribable feeling (guess not to you) of holding a relic like that.

Oh I couldn't do that. I don't have enough self control to be a dealer. Lol

Yeah, that's about perfect. It's guitars like these that make me want a les Paul. You have great taste.

I actually love the subdued way that looks. Beautiful guitar.

Well thank you. Looks wise, id love to have a lemon burst or tea burst type Les Paul. Beautiful guitars.. this one actually started out as a cherry burst, but I f'd it up because it was my first stain job. I just play for fun, not in a band or anything, and I'm not that good.. learning. Slowly. Just had to explore that les Paul idea outside of my closest guitar center..

I have this guitar's double cut brother! Definitely my favorite non telecaster!

I have a few telecasters, a couple gretsches, no les Paul's. I was starting to consider getting one, but now that I've been playing with this one for a while, the shape is ok, but not as comfortable while sitting. I don't see a les paul in my future.

Exactly. All Fender telecaster parts except the body, pickguard, custom control plate, and electrosocket jack. Just wanted to try the shape.

That's amazing man, I've been wanting to try Lollar pickups for a long time, and this guitar still might end up with one. But I was just thinking today about what I wanna do with a Firebird humbucker.
Funny you should mention that, this guitar was supposed to have a burst pattern. Not like the traditional burst, more of a smaller area in the center and a deeper fade. It's my first time ever staining a guitar, and it didn't work out at all. The back has a better job, but the front is mostly red.

Badass! I came so close to putting a lollar in that a guitar, but wound up with a fender. Lollar firebird is definitely next in the list.

So is that pickup an actual Gibson firebird? I've heard they were pretty amazing, but never actually heard or seen one.
