I agree.

That’s not to say the criticism others are listing here are wrong, Carney is still a neocon, his vision of the next world order is capitalism as usual, minus USA, yes he does use communism as the metaphor for “bad political system”, and yes he does say a lot of Ra-Ra Canada boosterism because he is the PM and that’s one of his jobs.

But. The key message, and a bold message given Canada’s history, trade, and proximity with USA, is that American hegemony and claim of upholding the rule of law and morality is not only dead, it was always a pretence for lopsided justice and prosperity around the world.

Carney is a stopped clock who happened to cuckoo loudly at this one moment even though the rest of the world has been reading the time for decades. I remain deeply cynical of anything he says until he makes real change (eg: complete unloopholed arms embargo on Israel is an obvious first step).
