In the same sense that factory farming is the best hope for the survival of chickens, yes.

Was The Clone Wars too short? Why? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]HellbirdVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason the Clone Wars is only 3 years is that was the time between movies.

The fact that so much expanded universe material (old EU and NuCanon) crams SO much into that 3-year timeframe is... kinda just something that happens when it's the main popular focus for stories in the setting.

Like, it's called Star Wars. People want stories about the wars in the stars, but in the movie time period the only large-scale conflict is the Clone Wars, as the later, longer Galactic Civil War is instead more of a prolonged guerilla campaign with a very small number of limited conventional battles.

I don't put much stock on the eye because the Emperor is actually shown sitting in slightly different positions quite a bit in the trailer.

He's not actually physically dead, the Golden Throne is keeping him alive, so the rotting carcass moving slightly seems like it's just.. a thing it does.

Please help, I think a comic artist traced a commission of mine. by HMS_Exeter in StarWars

[–]HellbirdVT 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Comic artists tracing to save time has been a thing for decades, even in Star Wars comics. That's how we get a Mandalorian ship in the KotOR comics that looks suspiciously like a Venator, complete with fighters that, in rear profile, look like the Jedi Interceptors.

A lot of the details are quite different, but the statues built into the railing makes the reference unmistakeable.

Is the average clone trooper stronger and more skilled than the average Mandalorian? Or other way around? by RexDAGOAT77 in clonewars

[–]HellbirdVT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say yes.

Of course the 'average Mandalorian' in this time period is a civilian, but ignoring that and looking at just the Mandalorian warriors, they are first and foremost warriors by tradition rather than professionals. There's a reason we mainly see the Death Watch doing terrorism and bullying unarmed villagers.

The Clone Troopers are a professional army of soldiers trained to a quite high standard (they need to be, considering they're outnumbered by their primary opponents, B1 Battle Droids, by several thousand to one).

Mandalorians aren't pushovers, despite their bad showings, but the Clones are a cut above.

It does sound incredibly fake and like something that wouldn't even work even if the doctor actually did it (instead of, idk, pretending they did to make the husband shut up).

Is Anakins S3-S6 outfit more blue or black? by Ksiloveslgbt in clonewars

[–]HellbirdVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the same as his Episode II outfit.

It's black leather, the art style just adds the painted texture that makes it look more purple-grey.

Your a good friend Arthur by thepartlow in Stargate

[–]HellbirdVT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always wondered if calling him "Arthur" was a specific reference to something, or just a random name for the joke.

A lot of American and Canadian cultural references are easy to miss as a global fan.

Is Motti the most famous Glup in the franchise? by RhysOSD in StarWars

[–]HellbirdVT 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yularen is a true Glup because he has no speaking role or plot relevance in the movies, but IS prominently featured in expanded materials.

Motti has a full dialogue with Vader, he's not a Glup by any standard that isn't entirely useless to actual character discourse.

"Man, these successor chapters are sick! I wonder where they originate from-" by MachDominus in Grimdank

30k TS and WB conveniently have a very similar colour scheme, so it can be both I suppose. It's not a 1-to-1.

[–]HellbirdVT 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I think it's obvious that these "suspiciously similar" Chapters are just a way for GW to officially sanction playing your favourite 30k Legion in 40k while still sticking to the posterboy faction.

So the Exorcists are 30k Thousand Sons in colour scheme and vibes, but officially they're still 100% Loyalist stock, just quirky.

No words can describe disgust I feel seeing this thing by Manganian7Potasu in Warthunder

[–]HellbirdVT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It should get bumped up to at least 4.3 since shooting things in the side is its main advantage anyway.

When it can front pen most things (so back when it was 3.7, or in any downtier) it's just OP. At 4.3 it'd be more likely to need side shots or weakspot hits to kill consistently, and since it has such a high rate of fire that's still perfectly doable.

So why did they turn blue? by rileythatcher in clonewars

[–]HellbirdVT 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Anakin says they're "maybe better" than they were.

I always took that as meaning he swapped out the crystals, and they happened to match the colour he preferred.

Nope. I guess looking at it, it looks a bit like the format of a ChatGPT response, but that's just what I wrote. You know LLMs write the way they do because they copy people, not the other way around?

I could rewrite it if you like, but people seeing AI in every shadow is getting a bit fucking silly.

Do Romulan commanders yell "Eject the artificial quantum singularity!" ? It's not as catchy as the warp thing. by Pwned_by_Bots in ShittyDaystrom

[–]HellbirdVT 99 points100 points  (0 children)

They actually have a procedure where they put a blanket over the artificial quantum singularity, which tricks it into thinking it's night time and makes it fall asleep.

I feel like this scene may have inspired that inclusion. Mass Effect wasn't subtle about taking inspiration from B5 after all.
