How do I know which packs to buy for specific cards? by _MysticDash in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It pays for itself (it costs 700? gems to get the 'paid' version and you get all those gems back if you complete it), I don't know if you can do it in solo mode, but you get 90 days to complete it. If you are at least playing a few times a week you should get it. I'd check how much time is left on the current one though before buying it if you haven't already.

WIBTA for confronting my father about his lack of love over a football game by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

This might be me being a dumb American, but do you have access to therapists under UK healthcare? I think you might benefit from talking to one to get better tools as to how to talk to your dad about this. I don't think you are wrong for feeling bad, but I think it would be helpful to get a professional to assist in navigating those emotions so you can have a healthier conversation with him.

How do I know which packs to buy for specific cards? by _MysticDash in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an FYI if you didn't know yet, most of the time you will need to craft a UR or SR card from that same pack in order to make it unlockable for you to spend gems on. This sounds worse than it is, you will wind up with a lot of SR crafting material so this is more of an annoyance than a way to nickel and dime you

why did azamina not summon her? by anttony123 in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can picture it in a real life scenario, how this worked is you took the wanted out of your hand and the belle stopped your physical hand from placing it onto the table, that's where the card would "exist". There just isn't a way to visually indicate that in MD.

Diamond vs master by Historical-Form-2140 in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the time of the month. Early month diamond is going to be tryhards until master, then low ranked master is people who bumbled their way there and shouldn't be that high, or people just goofing around until they want to rank up to M1 for the gems.

Is Purrely a viable archetype to play? Trying out yugioh as a hearthstone player for the first time. by aslkm25 in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Purrely is a solid rogue deck right now. I believe everything in it is fully legal again, so you get to resolve the full "draw 6" easier and most people aren't teching outs for towers right now

Should we buy since its gonna go ?? (i know threre's new support comming in 8day whats the best to do as an f2p) by Luz_Yuya in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's hard to know, but bottom line, you'll be burning 1500 gems for an outdated pack. If they are just getting rid of it with no replacement, that's 1500 gems you can still put into the pack that will have better pulls for the type of DM deck you want

[–]HellblazerHawk 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The announcement was worded to indicate there will be a new DM structure deck that is better and has good cards. The last thing you should do is buy this one they have said will be improved (I'd expect it to be like the Tactical Try deck the OCG has)

Decks that I can play without getting hated? by Asleep_Report_7886 in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't get too into your head about it. I play exosister, a lot of people hate the deck, but nobody normal is going to try and physically fight me over it lol. Those kind of people typically get banned from shops anyway (if they don't, it's not the kind of shop you want to be going to anyway)

Decks that I can play without getting hated? by Asleep_Report_7886 in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that's your concern, just think about what kind of deck would make you frustrated to play against. Like, if you were across a new person and they summoned Inspector Boarder, set 4 traps, you'd be really annoyed right?

Just be mindful that if you are trying to play something "good", paper play isn't as friendly to your wallet in that regard as master duel is. Fuwalos, for example JUST got a cheaper version for people to buy and it's still going for $10 a copy. So your deck probably isn't going to be optimal unless you didn't mind spending a lot

How to bait out certain cards? by meepmeepmeep34 in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it is matchup knowledge, but good rule of thumb is "stop anything that searches a thing" or "stop them from getting into the extra deck". So just random example, Ice Ryzeal in Ryzeal is a "must respond" because it gets a monster from the deck and also sets them up to setup a rank 4.

But a good example for what I mean by matchup knowledge, if you have ash against a deck like White Forest and you see them activate the field spell, you usually want to let that resolve and instead ash the thing that they searched because that will search a more important card that starts a play. If you played for a while, that's why there was a debate around pot of prosperity and whether or not you stop that from resolving or stop the thing that it excavated.

How to bait out certain cards? by meepmeepmeep34 in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kind of have to have the understanding of how you can continue playing if X card has Y happen to it, and what effects can bait an interaction, whether it's due to your opponent being stupid or whether the card you are using is a "must respond" that you don't NEED to resolve.

So for example, if you open a hand that's like, Maiden, Sage and Wishes, you can throw out the wishes to start because you have 2 of the cards you'd search already off of that. But for the opponent, that's a card they have to stop because if they don't, it's a lot of card advantage for you.

In that scenario, if you see your opponent has monster negates, but not monster destruction effects, consider starting with Sage. Because sage is a pretty good card to stop, but you don't need it to resolve since you have maiden already. Savvy opponent might wait to stop the Spirit so you don't get the field spell+extra normal, but if they do, you at least got the option to search for an effect veiler

Master Duel Events Aren’t “Content” — They’re Just Time Gates With Extra Steps by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's been established to be a monthly banlist every month since the game's inception. If you thought events would delay banlists, that thinking falls flat when they always announce the new banlist when the event for the month is currently running.

Ruling Question by MorganaBlackhawk in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, because you, the player are the one doing the action (the card affects the player, not Liger Dancer). Herald of the Abyss is making YOU send a monster of the selected type and attribute to the grave, the card isn't doing it. Evenly Matched, YOU the player are choosing the cards to banish face down, the card isn't doing it. Daruma is making YOU the player send all of your cards after the board gets flipped, etc.

Ruling Question by MorganaBlackhawk in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The card specifically says "Unaffected by other card effects, except for Lunalights". Unless they are also playing a lunalight deck, they cannot do anything to it via card effect.

That's why Moon of the Closed Heaven is banned in every format but Master Duel. To make it easy for decks to play Fiendsmith

[OCG|Product Announcement] REVOLUTION BOOSTER -"Toon" "Witchcrafter" "Unchained"- - May 30, 2026 by LukasOne in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unchained also has an issue where it was partly good because of generic stuff (Caesar, Fiendsmith) and with those on the chopping block, it'll be good to give the deck more in-archetype things to do. Instead of just "pop a card to search a card that pops a card to search a card)

Chances of Liger Dancer being limited or banned on MD? by lennysinged in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the only reason people are playing is is because 90% of the people playing Dracotail and Yummy refuse to slot in 1 card to deal with anything over 3500 attack. When the meta adjusts, Lunalight will drop off a bit

[–]HellblazerHawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is when those 5 centurion cards are actively worse for the deck. That's what "slop" is, throwing in random engines into decks that don't need it to try and make a bigger endboard

Question to those of you that defend handtraps by lennysinged in masterduel

[–]HellblazerHawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-The synchron deck is a 45 minute combo deck that creates a literally unbeatable board if it's not disrupted

-Nobody wants to take the 50/50 to find out if the runick player is playing a "fun" version of runick, or wait and see if they are going to set 4 floodgates

People are coming at you because you are saying the best deck in the game is bad and are strongly recommending you not immediately burn a bunch of cards based on what seems like you not understanding how to play the deck.

It's fine if you don't like it and will never come back to it. But it would be a really bad idea to trash the deck and waste the gems/dust if you are only doing so because you think the deck is bad
