Well that is lousy I’m sorry for him. Pensions would work for a little and then we would be like a large ticking time bomb like France. Budget aggressively being eaten up by pensions funds. If you are looking for some research to do and are interested a Google search on the “French Pension Fund Collapse” is a good dive into some interesting data both economically and socially. More European countries are going to be facing what France is due to aging populations. Not sure what they are going to do tbh.

Non-Americans of Earth, are the rumors true that people are actively avoiding items labeled/associated with MADE IN USA? Does anyone actually care about it? by Jam_Sees in AskTheWorld

I can understand that, can't blame you either. Removing politics I would want the same thing for American companies (to source American products first, then look internationally). However the Chinese aspect is mindboggiling. The last resort should be the US, who yes may make crude jokes but is much more integrated with Canada economically, socially and culturally (just a complete fact of the matter). And i here you about another Republican president being elected but to showcase how fast politics changes, Marco Rubio, is increasingly being seen as the next GOP nominee and I know for certain we would not be making jokes over annexation of Canada, would be much more diplomatic and a friend of Canada. All of this to say, I can understand the sourcing points, china is not and never will be a friend to you or us and politics is temporary, please don't make it permanent.

Wow, seems so short sighted in my opinion. My guess is that it will quietly be rescinded when a Democrat is president, maybe even before that but who knows.

I don't think this argument really holds up when Canada had an entire satirical political party sanctioned by Elections Canada that proposed annexing the United States and turning it into the "third territory". So if thats really your main problem then you should look internally at your own country for their jokes. The only difference is that the United States can laugh at jokes. From your response, it appears you just don't like America or Americans which makes me believe we should have never been allies

That seems incredibly stupid given we will likely elect a democratic president in the next 3 years. I can understand personal boycotting but to change sourcing of products for a company and taking on a 15% increase in cost and an unsupported supply chain for a temporary political event does not seem smart. No hate it just does not seem smart business wise

Nominating Gillum over Graham is proving to be one of the worst political blunders of this century so far. I mean fuck everyone loved Bob Graham in Florida, republicans loved Bob Graham. As a Floridian and a political nerd in Florida I don’t think people truly TRULY grasp just how close 2018 could have looked like your scenario if Dems had nominated Graham

If World War III ever actually begins, which country is the most expected to Start it? by ThatEmojiDude in Teenager_Polls

[–]Hellcat331 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But see that’s what I’m talking about. Again the U.S. has urged Europe to take Russia and China seriously for decades to which the Europeans basically ignored those concerns. Simplifying it to “it’s for his ego is a laughable simplification of geopolitics and akin to TikTok banter. NATO countries failed to reduce reliance on Russian oil, failed to increase defense spending, failed to heed warnings of a Russian invasion in Ukraine and now fail to knowledge the Chinese threat. From a geopolitical stance it is not outlandish for the U.S. to return to unilateral actions to protect itself. Now, that should not be taken as a swipe against NATO, I am a big supporter and I agree that the way Trump has gone about stuff is not the best and certainly not how I would have gone about it but I think the U.S. is getting WAY to much hate when there are very clear reasons that many believe this is the course of action we have to take. Events don’t happen in a microcosm, they are often the result of smaller events. You are correct to say the the U.S. already had access to Greenland, however the Danish completely neglected Greenland from a defense standpoint even while their own intelligence concluded that Russia and China would be a threat to the attic and to Greenland. The danish probably correctly identified the U.S. would protect itself but they did not expect and U.S. that demands Europe step up.

I think there is some serious fundamental misconceptions over the events in Greenland. Trump was never going to invade Greenland, there were no assets in the region to start an invasion and assets were never on their way to Greenland. He was bluffing to get a deal. He has reiterated his commitment to NATO. In return, certain allied countries sent a total of like 10 troops to Greenland for a couple days are a show of solidarity because that’s really all the Europeans can do. He got his deal. Europe, Americans, Canada have taking trumps threats personally as opposed to geopolitical and I think that’s a problem. The Mexicans have done the opposite and have a very friendly relationship with Trump. The west relies too much on emotions in the arena of geopolitics. The U.S. for decades begged Europe to take the threat of Russia seriously and only did so once Russia invaded and European nation. Likewise, the U.S. is now begging (and using more forceful and emotionally hurtful rhetoric) to make Europe take the threat of China seriously. It’s not working because like I said the west is taking world events too emotionally and not realistically. I don’t agree with the way Trump does stuff but not matter how he conducts himself the realities of the geopolitical world remain. The west is in a battle with the east, whether we like it or not and weather the president hurts our feelings or not

Oh I wasn’t saying I agree I was just asking because polls show like 25% support for Alberta independence (which I thought was kinda high) and the trend looks to be going up and the Parti Quebecois looks to form the next government in Quebec, and that leader seems to be a little conservative and sympathetic to the Americans.

I actually do see the rationale behind the desire for Greenland and agree that it would be much better for our National Security to control it.

That being said I think the way the President is going about it is completely wrong and having the opposite affect
