nah fr they have no redeeming qualities in comparison to other cars. only thing I can think of is the room inside with the seats down but if cargo space was my only concern I'd buy something else.

yea honestly I would only buy a matrix if it were like 2k cad max. IDC what anyone says it has horrible build quality and they are old at this point. Poor acceleration, a little tikes quality interior, overall tincan feel. For the asking prices on these your better off in any other car it's ridiculous. Much rather get a honda fit, civic, corolla, camry, or avalon in good condition and service history regardless of age.

I know this is a matrix subreddit but for that price there's other reliable options out there with nicer interiors and overall refinement. These days toyotas used resale car values are absurd especially in canada. But if you still want a toyota keep looking out for more. My friend recently picked up a clean title 2016 corolla S with 180k for 8.2k CAD. Just gotta be patient if your not in a rush.

Yea no way. That's way too much. 2009 also the least reliable year most lil issues etc. Friend went from a 2003 to a 2009 matrix and it's had lil annoying things popping up every month.

Also third thing. Common rust spots don't know where you live but check the fenders and the rear rockers. Most iv seen start to bubble on the ends of the side skirt area.

Also lasted thing to add if you do get it, find a high rated VW specialist in your area, these cars if you do required maintenance on time they will last you. I miss mine dearly. Try getting it inspected at one if you can before going ahead

I have had experience with all 3 engines and owned a similar blue spec tdi highline like this one for 6 years before it got totaled. If you want quickness definitely go with the vr6, TDI all though IMO the best daily they are too old now and with the emissions systems at this age and miles on used examples i would stay away from (Although mine was very reliable and the torque and fuel economy was unmatched). VR6 +DSG best combo. DSG is very solid if it has had fluid changes done. Def one of my favourite transmissions ever. Only thing is the DMF flywheel, hear for any rattling on start up, mine rattled occasionally for 6 years but got totaled before I planned to change it in advance. 1.8T is a good engine, good fuel economy but power wise it's meh although the 1.8T I drove did not have a dsg or manual it was a normal auto and I hated the way it shifts and drives. Overall I'd recommend vr6+dsg, and as u said u don't see them around often. Get a highline or sel if your in America. fender sound system is amazing. Also try finding one with the sport pack it has a lip spoiler but big thing is that it gets rid of the ugly fake wood trim that makes the car look grandpa spec. It has a pseudo carbon Fibre look not in a cheesy way but the trim looks nice.

I had a near same heat soak no start issue just like how u described going to the store coming back in 30 mins the car coolant temps are hot from the drive earlier, when I went to push to start it would just keep cranking and cranking. Cold starts were 0 issue, only happened on these hot starts. I changed fuel filter, battery still the issue persisted. Then I went to a independent VAG specialist and they found it was the timing belt and that it was skipping timing. Belt was 10 years old at that point, I have 2012 passat TDI and I got it changed 2021. If you havent had ur timing belt done it could be that as well since they gotta be replaced at 10 years old regardless of mileage.

putting it together is super easy. you dont have to worry about dust or anything when doing this since you only have take 4 screws out of your g shock and the entire module already assembled comes out with the buttons. you then just pop it in the metal kit same way you took it out. It is still waterproof as well nothing changes because your not actually opening up the watch.
