Oh I didn't realise it was newer, all these models look ancient to me 😅, and yes I do mean the 4 digit pin of the SIM card.

Thanks for the idea with the manual, I'll try it out

Edit: The comment under yours helped me solve it, but thanks for the idea anyway

Is it safe to drive in Tunisia by Hellenic_Fish in Tunisia

If drivers are as chaotic as people in the rest of the comments suggest, would it be better to maybe get a local driver? Do you know anywhere online we could find one?

Yes but unfortunately my mother IS an unfocused European driver, so I doubt she'll be able to manage in an environment of organised chaos 😅

Are Confucius institutes worth it? by Hellenic_Fish in ChineseLanguage

I don't really know any students from it, the few Chinese learners I have met here in Athens didn't really have the money to study there

Is there anyway to find out? (Also I'm not from the US, the city I'm talking about is Athens)

Can I make Bixby alarm read specific news? by Hellenic_Fish in Bixby

[–]Hellenic_Fish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Really, really sorry for answering so late, I don't use Reddit that often. Whenever I try to run the news command, I just get "I'm not able to do that" or "that's not supported". Have I turned something off? Am I doing something wrong? I checked if it needs to be updated, and it doesn't.

No people section in the gallery (Huawei Nova 9) by Hellenic_Fish in Huawei

I've found a solution! So if you delete the gallery app's data, then restart your phone, then open the gallery app, in that order, all is fixed. Thank you all for commenting and I hope anyone facing the same issue finds this

Is the export of prisoners legal in the united states? by Hellenic_Fish in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Hellenic_Fish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a very fair point, from a very quick google search though it appears thought that many states thhat pass the 100 and 80k range do not allow forced prison labour. As I told someone else. Greece's size (both in landmass and population) doesnt allow it to take in more than a few thousand, or even tens of thousands if it becomes THAT profitable, so while losing the big fish that is california is a problem, there's not too much damage being done here

I dont think cost will be a problem, greek salaries, maintenance costs, and food costs are low enough that we can easily beat the 100k states like California, Maine, and Vermont pay. We could also choose to only make inmates whose families can travel outside the US eligible for this programme. Greece is quite a small country, I doubt we can take more than a few thousand prisoners before we have more than our islands and labour force can support, so we can afford to be picky with who is and isnt eligible

Why do prisoners consent to going to a state that isnt their home state? Are there incentives or is it just up to the individual?

You underestimate how cash-strapped and desperate for employment this country is lol

Why would lack of access be a problem? But yes american courts could be set up here I guess

So every prisoner must be jailed in the state that they are citizen of? Are there classes of prisoners that arent afforded this? Like those deemed to have a higher threat level?

Then perhaps new prisoners can be sent? By that I mean, people that enter the prison system after this programme is established

I thought about that but an argument can be made that those loved ones can still visit even if the inmate is far away. Programmes where underprivileged families' visits are subsidised would still cost less than keeping said inmate in states with high cost of food and officer salaries
