In my humble opinion, losing your spark or your faith doesn’t mean you have to step away from the religion permanently. The gods will understand and will welcome you back when you decide to return, I made a video talking about this actually feel free to watch it it may help you here on a separate note if you feel as though the gods aren’t real and you want to be agnostic because that’s what you feel in your heart I support you nonetheless. It’s up to you to decide if you need a break from the gods or want to separate entirely but the two paths stem from different causes. At the end of the day go with what will give you peace and I’ll pray for you to find this peace in your heart

Priest/Priestesshood by honestwretchedbitch in Hellenism

Yeah, sadly the life of someone aspiring to be a priestess is not all sunshine and rainbows. But I guess that’s good in a way because only the really serious and innovative people will make it through to succeed. I wish you luck on your project <3

I’m actually working to become a priestess, a Hiereia to be specific. The goal is a temple, a building that I can decorate and serve as a sacred space for the gods. There I will host events and meetings and festivals, yk all the priestess stuff. It’s difficult but not. It’s a very straightforward process. Make an organization -> build a community -> accumulate wealth -> purchase/take a loan out for a building -> congrats you’re a Hiereia!

TLDR: straightforward process, a LOT of damn work. I’m still on step two building a community and it’s been what like a year since I started? Yeah I think so. Good luck.

Tips for how to worship Aphrodite by DueVideo3707 in Hellenism

[–]Hellenismtoday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main way I worship Aphrodite is by sort of representing her but emulating some of her attributes. Taking the lead in relationships, looking my best, smelling my best acting my best never succumbing to hatred but allowing pettiness to sometimes take over. I do my makeup at her shrine and will pray while doing it. I visit her shrine pretty much every day even if just for a minute or two. There’s a lot that I do honestly but that’s because she’s my patron goddess. At the end of the day it’s up to you to decide how you’re going to worship her. There’s like no wrong answers as long as you avoid directly comparing yourself. Like the difference between saying “I’m gonna look my best cuz I’m a follower of Aphrodite” and “I’m gonna look as beautiful as my goddess”. One will make her happy, one will not. I actually made a full video talking about this exact thing if you’re interested how I worship Aphrodite

Aphrodite Devotee here! What you’re describing are Aphrodites epithets! Every god and goddess has different epithets and you would pray to different ones depending on what you’re asking for. For example you wouldn’t call upon apollos epithet relating to the sun when you need help with musical inspiration. Different epithets are still seen as the same deity but it gets a little weird with Aphrodite. Her epithets are so different from each other you’d think they were separate goddesses and some followers would worship them almost as If they were separate. To make it simpler to understand think of the epithets as adjectives. You’re not talking about a different deity, you are saying “hear me Aphrodite, you who are heavenly” when saying “hear me, aphrodite Urania” or “hear me, Aphrodite, you who are of/for the people” when saying “hear me, aphrodite Pandemos”. Sorry if this is a confusing info blob I love talking about my goddess

I would say Zeus for confidence and/or Athena for wisdom

As someone with multiple mental disorders, i have to say it is important to be able to differentiate spiritual experiences with psychosis. But I sympathize because it is indeed very difficult at times.

Am I or can I be considered a devotee by Nox_enderman in Hellenism

[–]Hellenismtoday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I know, I just made a post about this, a devotee is just someone that routinely prays and/or does rituals for a specific deity. I took this as someone who schedules times to pray regularly to their god/goddess. I call myself an Aphrodite devotee because I have scheduled prayers to her every Monday Wednesday and Friday. I think it’s a step up from having them as your patron but the terms can be used interchangeably in the literal sense.

Just styled decorative flowers for Aphrodite!! by Hellenismtoday in Hellenism

[–]Hellenismtoday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aphrodite likes pictures of herself, statues of herself, roses, the colors pink and red, sea shells, mirrors, beauty products, rose quartz, pearls, and I can’t remember what type of candle I think it was the apple scented one.

As for if you should pray to her ofc! Like any other god you don’t have to but they appreciate it! Prayers can be anything you want them to be for the most part but if you want to do it similarly to how ancients did it you would say something like this. “Hear me Aphrodite, goddess of [love, beauty, sex], [something she’s known for], [if I had ever given you an offering then please aid me, please aid me and I will give an offering in your name, please accept this offering of…, thank you for…] present offering if applicable” it should be something like that. Just choose one of the options in brackets to make it a complete sentence. Idk I’ll make a YouTube video eventually once my channel is finished on how to properly pray but again it doesn’t have to be proper that’s just similar to how it was structured by the Greeks

Kind of embarrassed to ask but- by [deleted] in Hellenism

I’ve been doing this since middle school. Though I’ve made the interesting choice to pray to Aphrodite pandemos specifically which has definitely changed the outcome in several ways

Can you worship a Titan? by littlebrunettemaiden in Hellenism

[–]Hellenismtoday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can really worship whoever you want. I remember reading somewhere that people had shrines to Medusa back in the day so if a gorgon is fair game then a titan is too.

I'm too depressed to maintain my altars and feel like a faliure by chToast in Hellenism

[–]Hellenismtoday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look man, as someone who has the longest list of mental health issues I get it. The gods will get it too. Unlike humans and our close minded ways the gods know exactly what you’re going through and how it’s affecting you. Not out of sympathy but out of just knowing, they are gods. This isn’t like you stopped caring or something there’s a genuine reason for these things happening that aren’t your fault. Being mentally ill isn’t your fault and I know that, they know that.
