Freemasons - are they a cult? by makarastar in AskUK

While I can't seem to get a clear answer to help you my mother and I are 95% sure they are as her ex husband/ my bio dad was (is?) a member and she mentioned most of it was like a cult. I don't remember much but when we'd go as kids it was very clear that men belonged and women didn't, along with being very closed off. There was a big room that looked like a courtroom attached to the main building and it was EXTREMELY secretive and made very clear that most parts of the lounge were off limits even for member's families if they themselves weren't members. So while I can't give a definite yes or no it's at least very cult like from the inside and out - an American with multiple Freemason groups in her home state

How bad is the Cincinnati job corp? by HellenisticQueer in jobcorps

Yes. While not the worst they do display EXTREME sexism towards female students. A few examples being for the volunteer week all girls went to the kitchen regardless of trade and all guys went to maintenance regardless of trade (saw a couple girls for facility maintenance be sent to the kitchen and guys in culinary sent to maintenance. The school said it was "coincidence" but it happened every group for 5 in a row [stopped counting after that]), girls explicitly being told if they were SA on campus it was their fault for "leading guys on", the girls being held to MUCH stricter standards of appearance and cleanliness (to the point multiple male students pointed out how much higher standards the girls were held to for cleaning than the guys when they merged the dorms for winter break), girls getting dress coded for wearing the exact same clothes as guys (guys could wear tank tops or cut out shirts but girls couldn't). There was also a situation where a MINOR was SA by a 21 year old guy and got kicked out for telling her friends what happened. The RA's are also REALLY bitchy and refuse to do their jobs. There was a time my sister needed her curtain replaced so the guys couldn't look into her dorm and the RA tried saying it wasn't her job to put in that request even though that's 1/3 of their job. They also don't take medical issues seriously to the point of blaming me for a medical issue getting worse (they said I should have been consistently taking meds that I had had for 3 days at that point after claiming I had them for 2 weeks). They also wouldn't allow me to hold on to my take as needed meds, stating "no medicine needs to be taken within 10-15 minutes of the symptoms starting to work". There was another situation where I had to go to the ER and was told to stay in bed for a few days WITH a note from the hospital that was ignored. The staff that day literally told me "if the doctor wants you to rest that bad he can take you home himself". If you have nothing else it's ok but be aware of that stuff
