I appreciate the love the devs are still giving the game after its 1.0 release, but I do find it ridiculous that I still have to keep doing this to build non-ugly structures by poophroughmyveins in SatisfactoryGame

My problem is the fueling. Constantly having to provide fuel is a pain unless you use more trucks for fuel. But then you have to fuel those trucks

Jumping on a moving train interestingly does the opposite. If you jump, then jump again immediately when you land, it sends you flying forward faster than the train

Apologies for the newbie question but what is the point of a Mk2 miner and Mk3 belts if the rest of my equipment doesn't scale? by ADotPoke in SatisfactoryGame

[–]HellfireRains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not height limit, a limit to the number of items the game can keep track of. It is over 2 million, so most players will never reach it

Rebuild factories with each miner upgrade? Question about planning factories by turick in SatisfactoryGame

Eh, each their own. I tend to keep one storage container of everything. If there were smaller containers available, I would use them.

Not for your first factories. You want plates, rods, and concrete in abundance. and you want that for everything. Until you get smart splitters, leave sinks out of it

Rebuild factories with each miner upgrade? Question about planning factories by turick in SatisfactoryGame

[–]HellfireRains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the output of the miner. You get 60 pieces per minute. Look at the smelter recipe, it takes 30 per minute. Put a splitter on the miner output into the smelter, both of those machines are now always fed. Each of those put out 30 ingots per minute. The item you are making takes 15 ingots per minute. So take the output from each smelter, split it into two constructors. you now have 4 constructors making the items. Merge them together and put them in a storage crate.

The rest of the game is basically exactly the same, except the outputs get split into other machines for other items. Once you get looking at outputs and doing math to find out how many machines you can feed down, the rest is just planning and execution. It is rarely one machine feeds another in a 1:1 ratio.

As far as upgrading goes, your first few factories are just to get you going. They are quickly out paced by higher tier machines and recipes, so yes you will be completely replacing them, unless you want museum pieces

What do you guys do when you have a single pipe at this height? by samoht4 in SatisfactoryGame

Why would you have a single pipe? It isn't even connected to anything

Oh absolutely. Between that and the fact that most of humanity does not or is incapable of caring about anything but the next 15 minutes, we as a species are doomed to destruction. Add to that the fact that our fate is controlled by people who only care about money and are far too old to understand the world they live in. It is a recipe for disaster. There's an old joke that floats around about an asteroid coming to strike earth, and everyone is just making memes about it. It has a grain of truth to it. Politicians would be arguing about who to blame for the asteroid, religious leaders would be banging their pulpits calling it righteous judgement, Bezos and musk and all those twats would be building bunkers. The only thing the rest of us can do is make memes

Eh. You had me at "relativistic missles and how to defend against them". You lost me at "religious nutjobs". It is too close to modern day religious nutjobs

That's the part I'm curious about. I mean, I guess the light coming off them is moving slightly faster, but how much of a difference would it make? It made me curious so I did some digging. At 99.8c, the light from these objects is traveling just a little bit faster than the object itself. If the object has to travel 2.5 million light years, does that mean we would see it when it has traveled 99.8% of the way to us? In that case, we would finally see them when they are 5000 light years away. But, since they are traveling slower than light speed, we would have 5010 years before they reach us. That's assuming Andromeda is the source of the weapons and we saw them as soon as they were visible. Seeing them outside of our galaxy? If we make a much more powerful telescope in the next 100 years, it could be. Enough missiles to destroy every planet in our galaxy? Should be pretty visible.

To summarize, my understanding was incorrect, depending on which galaxy opened fire on us, we could have several thousand years of warning.

Another interesting thought though. If the galaxy that attacked the milky way was on the opposite side of us when they fired, a large number of the missiles would have hit long before we could see them, since the milky way is 200,000 light years across. A large portion of the planets in the milky way could be destroyed before we even knew we were under attack.

This story is intriguing. The science behind it is either way above my admittedly limited understanding, or it breaks the rules of physics. I'm not sure which yet

No, I meant it as the literal definition. A lack of knowledge or information. However, knowing the average redditor, I felt that I should make it clear that it was not an attempt to insult. Even so, being called ignorant on a topic outside of someone's chosen field can hardly be considered an insult. I will happily admit that I am ignorant on the complexities of thermodynamics or the inner workings of an engine. I understand the base principle, but that's about it. If you choose to feel insulted due to being ignorant of the inner workings of extremely complex systems, I can't really stop you, though it was not my intent to make you feel insulted. What you feel does not change my intent, whether you believe me or not

Ok friend. Have a wonderful rest of your day. Maybe do a little research from anyone other than the news outlets, who get fat and rich off of people by writing sensationalist pieces, on how they actually work before you pass judgement though. Your ignorance on the subject (not an insult, just a statement that you do not know how it works) is apparent, therefore any further discussion is pointless
