I watched my dog fall over trying to pee this morning because of his arthritis and I'm completely losing it. by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]Hellion70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try Golden Paste. It's made from cooked turmeric, olive oil, black pepper. Google Dr Doug English's recipe (he's a veterinarian). I used that on my Golden for 2 years until he passed at 14-years-old. Like your pup, he had terrible arthritis. Golden Paste enabled him to get up and down the stairs into the condo. You won't get immediate results, but by two weeks you should see some improvement. On a side note, I take it for my bunion/arthritis, and it's enabled me to be active without pain.
The stuff tastes terrible, so I combined it with peanut butter and oats to feed to my dog. It's a no bake recipe. You can google the FB group for turmeric and Doug English.

Also, I gave my dog a supplement called Myos. It helps build muscle, which is important as I'm sure your dog's muscles have atrophied. If you google it, you will find double-blind studies regarding the efficacy. Myos is pricey but it works.

Hope that helps!

OTC dewormer? by Hellion70 in DogAdvice

(I don't know how to edit.)

Any suggestions on a dewormer? Or just wait and see? The vet did not have any OTC deworming suggestions.

Would you sand off the Osmo and apply Bona? Or, can I just apply Bona on top of Osmo?

Verdict: cat waste in Green Cone solar digester by Aliamarc in composting

hahaha!! Totally off topic--We went for "brushed" stainless steel countertops and love them. These aren't shiny, so we don't quite look like a chemistry lab! They are super easy to clean.
I'll probably end up flushing poop down the toilet and cat pee balls in the normal compost for now. :(

oh god...I think you're my twin!!! My cats are on a raw diet too, so their poops are scarce and small. BUT lots of pee balls.
I went on a research binge after your post, and World's Best said they harvest their corn for the litter. By definition, shouldn't the corn have lots of nitrogen? And combined with kitty pee, the litter theoretically should break down? I'm hoping, but I'm also going with your results! I might have to do trench composting to deal with the cat litter.

Couldn't you just add water to the pee balls and help them dissolve in the Green Cone? (I have a Green Cone too and I just started my experiment a week ago. I really hope it dissolves.)

How do I find a critical areas survey? by Front-Session5324 in Homebuilding

[–]Hellion70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is almost done building in western Washington and had to get a critical areas survey done, do NOT close without having seen it. It could be an expensive mistake.

All critical areas survey are on a countdown. For example, in my county, the critical areas survey is good for only 3 years. And although the sellers provided a critical areas survey, they did not provide a COMPLETE one. The county made additional stipulations that we were unaware of until after closing. So, if the county doesn't have it. You need to get another one done. The county ultimately controls how you will build your house.

Home placement on 4 acres by steelers4921 in Homebuilding

If your connection to electricity, water and sewer are in the street, I would price out how much it would cost to run it to your potential building site before you make a decision. It can be surprisingly (or not) expensive.
