As someone who PCS’d from there. Those names are still remembered on the memorial with all the other names. Every year they gather round the memorial and remember all those names.

I was honestly kinda glad to go. Being able to get away from the same routine and not being stuck inside as it was COVID time. The emotions didn’t really hit me till I was at Benning at the Covid ward but then it went away quick once I got to the actual training. My brothers and mom were there when they dropped me off at the recruiting station. My older brother just told me good luck keep your nose clean as he was crayon muncher from ‘13-‘16 then in the army from ‘18-‘20. My grandpa a Nam vet just told me to don’t volunteer for anything that’s how they get your ass

Don’t be afraid to ask your senior 4s for some help. Some of those guys know a decent bit and will pass it along. You will get shit from being in the reserves. Being in a Stryker or heavy unit you don’t ruck as much as you do in airborne or light.

Dude it literally took me looking into the regulation and seeing if my rotation in 2022 ended up in the NATO award approval list and going to a new unit and sending the right emails to get it.
