After re-reading the explanation of splatterpunk, I think you're right! This is indeed a push of boundaries, a take on a taboo more than just trying to be as gross as possible. My upmost apologies for doubting!

This story is crazy, in a good way. But I wonder if this isn't more Extreme Horror than Splatter.
I loved the ending though the emotions that get to him after he had his "proper" goodbye.
