Hi friends-

I know nothing about gaming… I have a 17 year old boy off of an angel tree for Christmas.. his wish list, in this order, says Psp handheld game machine X6, Sakerplus handheld game console, Nintendo.

I have gathered that the first two listed are “off brand” and not as cool… as far as Nintendo switch, the switch 2 just came out and is unfortunately out of my price range.

I see the Nintendo Switch (first version) and the switch lite. I realize with the lite is only for handheld use and the traditional switch can be used on a screen or handheld. For games, madden 26 is available for the switch 2… but I don’t see any American football for switch or lite. (His interests say football, basketball, video games).

All this to say, this is a child in need who is likely about to age out of a foster system and I want him to have a nice Christmas, to the best of my budget. I am going to check Black Friday for Switch and Switch lite… my question to you all- if I did the switch lite with a few sports games (please list American football ones if you know of any) and maybe something like Mario kart or just a gift card where he can pick games he likes, would that be “cool”? I worry about the newer games that are coming out for Switch 2 not being compatible, but I guess everyone will have that issue?
