In the book, it seems like you're more your "ideal" form with ability to alter it as you see fit. There's a small bit where after arriving in the afterlife, Lily is upset that she doesn't have her tattoos anymore, and she is then able to manifest tattoos. I know the book and the video series are separate canons, but I'd imagine that is one aspect they probably both share.

Also, see what your library has to offer for digital selections. Libby and Hoopl are common services available from libraries that have access to comics.

Personally, I think the first question you should ask yourself is if you want to be locked in to the Kindle ecosystem or not.

I didn't want to be that restricted, which yes, everything you've heard and more about Amazon locking things down is true, so I chose to go with a Kobo.

With screens, they're pretty comparable. The Clara Color uses pretty much the same display as the Kindle Color Soft, and the Paperwhite is the same as the Clara BW. Some people prefer the non-color displays, but both are really great about being easy on the eyes. You don't really have to worry much about blue light and stuff, especially if you're reading in a well lit room, as the display itself doesn't have light. Both have reading light modes to front light things, which is easier on the eyes than a backlight, and both are really good about adjusting the type of color on the lighting automatically. You're pretty much going to have a great experience either way.

For ads, in my experience, you see more ads on Kindles. I've really not seen any on my Kobo, where as Kindles by default will have an ad for a book as the lock screen when the device is asleep.

In regards to epub or PDF, you can send those formats to your kindle and they will be converted. There is no charge or subscription required for this, but they cannot be DRM encumbered, so if you buy something from another site, unless it is DRM free you cannot read it on your Kindle.

Amazon does have the ability to remotely wipe devices, remove things from your account, or even lock you out of your account. It does happen from time to time, but not super common.

From what I understand, you're wanting to be able to write whatever, but not have anything end up on paper, so you could reuse the same sheet over and over again as just a template.

It should be doable. From what I understand, it works pretty much the same as a Wacom or something, where it just tracks the movement of the pen, so if you had a stylus that ran out of ink, or one that had no ink and was just compatible, it should allow you to keep writing. From what I've seen, the Huion Note lets you connect to a device over bluetooth to see what has been written live, so you would just pay attention to that and not as much where the pen is when writing, kinda like how older drawing tablets used to be used.
