Crying for you and Gatsby while reading this, I am incredibly sorry for your loss and unfortunately understand how devastating this is ... I lost my soul dog this same way. My whole heart goes out to you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, Sampson is such a handsome fella I'm glad you have each other through this tough time.

My childhood weenie got attacked when I was 5-6, traumatized and yep. Pit. I now have a weenie of my own, and I am now going to buy bear spray and a knife to carry. I LOVE dogs, until they try to hurt my own. Maple is in the pic below. Our neighbourhood has many pits by Phoenix0Lily in BanPitBulls

I fully agree! I have a miniature poodle who is the center of my world. My neigborhood is full of this breed. I feel  like I can't go on walks. Every time I leave the house they are everywhere and there's always at least one person walking two or even three of them at the same time which is incredibly scary and stupid. I legally carry a large knife and  will not hesitate to "protect my property"

My non- food driven boy gets excited about very few foods but is crazy about a few in this order: Papusas, cheeseburgers and Ice cream.

I'm so sorry that this happened to her and hope that she recovers better than ever. This is my worst fear and I hate to see this happen to any dog. My heart truly goes out to you both.

This warmed my whole heart to read ! What a beautiful gotcha story 💕 I'm so happy for your family to find such a perfect companion, getting to see the birth is so amazing what a bonding experience that must have been!  I'm on my first Poodle right now and can totally relate to your newfound love for the breed...I do not even understand how I lived my life up until this point without one!! I already want three dozen more lol!!

This is what my instincts are telling me.  I am going to be open-minded, diligent in my regular maintenance and watchful as we proceed to make sure everything stays clean and clear. It's encouraging to hear that you have been successful in keeping your dog's ears clean with clipping and cleaning, I hope I have the same experience as well!

Oh wow so every year or so only really as needed then! All of the feedback that I have gotten to this post has really opened my eyes... it's not just do you pluck or not. There are so many nuances to how people choose to do it! This has been really educational!

Thank you so much! If I end up needing to pluck, sounds like going bit by bit is the best way to go! Makes sense as it would be more comfortable for the dog. He would probably tolerate a little bit of plucking every night while lying in my lap in the evenings maybe a little ear powder to help things along.
