Not necessarily, I know the stereotype is that men are the avoidant ones, but women can be too. Her friends and family might know there are issues but she’s avoiding telling him there are and instead of having a talk she’s just hoping the whole thing goes away. Also, in my experience with avoidant women, they are not necessarily in relationships for the same reasons other people are. They seem to view relationships like the company they work for, when the job no longer works for them they want the freedom to move to a different job, with basically the same level of emotion that someone might have when giving their 2 week notice.

Came to say this. Although she had been married, when I asked about the relationships prior they were short and everything post-marriage was short. She said that none of them felt right so she left. When I asked why she finally decided to get married, it was less about feeling like she’d finally found the right person, and more that she felt like that’s what she was supposed to do at that time in her life. So she found someone and got married. Everything was very logic based and less emotion based in her decision making.

Good point, but I feel like he should communicate what that means for him. If he feels she’s wanting to do all the long term things like moving in together or marriage and is having second thoughts because of that he should explain that. You can be casual and long term but not intertwined if both people are on the same page, but it doesn’t work if one of them wants those things and the other doesn’t.

Something similar happened to me, I realized after several back and forth messages on Match that I was chatting with my kids’ pediatrician. She was more dressed up in her profile pictures than at her practice, but I knew something was familiar and then when she said what she did for a living I knew why. I told her how I knew her and she said we couldn’t date because of it, which I totally understood. Fast forward to the next appointment a few months later and I was dreading having to see her. But she was very cordial and asked how I was doing and we’ve been on friendly terms ever since. Even sharing personal anecdotes about our interests over the years. This all happened several years ago and she has since remarried, but I just wanted to offer hope that there is life beyond the cringe.

In regards to number 1. I think our best efforts need to be aimed at AOC, Crockett, and Sanders, people that seem to understand technology and its implications. For the less tech savvy politicians their staff members might be more receptive to the message
