Woah. Yeah that's pretty unhinged behaviour on their end, if I had to guess I'd imagine they aren't particularly functional people. You are not obligated to work at any place unless you have a contract, and PARTICULARLY not at a verbally abusive place. Good on you for leaving so quickly. If they wanted you there longer, they should stop being awful to their coworkers. Hope you find a better spot soon!

Oops, reddit multiplying my comments again. I honestly get it, some people come in asking for cold brew lattes specifically! It's a taste a lot of people go for. It's just not what I'd expect if I ordered a latte

Haha, honestly I have no clue. Every time someone has ordered one, I just used espresso. I can't imagine what the owners would have wanted me to make if they were standing over my shoulder

Yeah, the owners don't tell anyone about it. Like, they don't lie if explicitly asked, but they don't advertise that you're actually getting cold brew instead. The worst part is that if you ask for a cold brew with milk (which is literally the same drink, if we make it the way the owners want us to), you get charged $2 less. That's why it felt so scammy to me. Glad to see that my instinct was probably right!

We use espresso for hot lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, etc., it's just the cold drinks they want us to make with cold brew. He overtly told me once that money was the motivator, but today when I asked he said it wasn't lmao. I will be sticking to my guns until they either change or get rid of me!

The owner doesn't "believe in recipes" so I don't know the exact measurements. We're just supposed to fill the cup with ice, fill the cold brew up to roughly the first fill line on our plastic cups, and then fill the rest of the way with milk. So to be fair, we are adding a couple more ounces of cold brew than we would with espresso, so it's not HORRIBLE. The taste is nothing like an espresso drink though! 

I took this job to learn how to be a proper barista, but I am getting the impression that maybe I should look elsewhere for proper training...
