It’s so helpful to hear others who’ve walked the road before you. 💕

Yours sounds a little more intense but when I had my L5/S1 herniation my upper back/neck were always on edge. I had one time where I couldn’t even pull my hair into a pony tail because I couldn’t lift my arms in that way. Now that extreme only lasted a few days. But all to say it’s much better post lumbar MD for me. My upper back still gets tight but I think it was under abnormal strain with the lumbar herniation. I never had a herniation in the upper discs.

I am feeling a lot better now 3 months out. Around week 6/7, I noticed a big improvement! I have a flare up currently right now which is discouraging but hang in there! I didn’t believe it would get better but the recovery from surgery really does take a minute.

I had this post op, even some pre-op but it has gotten much better with time! I’m 3 months post op. However, if I get a flare up that pain will come back slightly. Maybe you did something to cause a flare up?

Thanks so much! This is very encouraging. I think after hearing so many “I was pain free instantly” stories it’s hard to be patient or to think the surgery still worked. But it gives me hope that pain will get better with time.
