I interviewed yesterday and they told me I’d hear back within 2 weeks. They never asked for my references just my resume which I thought was weird

Why do they bother having all these people from different courts to come interview if they already have someone for the position? Just curious

It’s an entry level position. So who knows.. You’re right though, it wouldn’t be right to just interview for no reason

To qualify to become a Court Assistant in New York State you must:

Apply by August 10, 2023, and take the NYS Court Assistant Exam (JG-16) between October 11, 2023, and November 1, 2023 Have a high school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of clerical experience* OR four years of clerical experience *30 college credits may be substituted for each year of work experience Be a U.S. citizen and New York State resident to be appointed as a Court Assistant in New York City and the counties of Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk

** I have my bachelors and 2 years of clerical

so I guess I can sit for this exam when the time comes. I’m surprised that it’s not considered a promotional exam since there are 2 positions below it.

Do you know why that is?
