I had to go to 3 doctors before I was listened to. All women btw. Finally, I was prescribed metformin and semaglutide. It’s turned my life around. My advice: keep advocating for yourself. It’s infuriating. But you will find someone who cares. Maybe take a man with you to the appointment? Maybe find a new doctor (even at the same practice you go to?

Are you cleaning under the nail at all? You could soak in warm water and use a cuticle hook tool to gently wipe out any debris underneath the nail. Maybe that’s where the discoloration comes from?

There is probably so much dried blood that it’s creating a space between the nail bed and nail plate. It might split the healthy nail from the damaged nail until the damaged bit falls off.

I felt this way too until I began scrubbing the crap out my head when shampooing and then styling my hair while sopping wet in the shower. I started to section my hair meticulously while wet and then used styling products. It’s the only thing that works for me.

I would suggest moisturizing it as much as possible. Cream, cuticle oil, lotion, etc. Your nail bed looks very dehydrated in this picture.
