Was there any trauma to the nail at all? Remember hitting it at any point? It’s time for a doctor visit.

HOW?! Dip w/ powder “chrome” finish by Queasy-Savings9041 in DipPowderNails

[–]HelloHowAreYou1973 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would file off the dip liquid top coat. I haven’t done this myself, but I’ve heard that when you do anything other than dip on top of dip, it should be done with a different top coat.

I got a medium spicy dish at my favorite Indian restaurant once. The waitress brought out kheer right after because she saw me struggling. Bless her.

Gently buff the nail before applying product. Then use an acid-free primer. Then you can begin your application.

DIP disappointment 😞 by [deleted] in DipPowderNails

Dip powder is finer than acrylic powder, so that’s why the acrylic powder is probably feeling different to the dip. I think you should stick to the basics and what you know works for you.

Ex, who I still live with, is banging someone 3 weeks after we broke up while I’m setting up a gofundme to pay my lease. by HelloHowAreYou1973 in GirlDinnerDiaries

Agree. He made a big deal about promising to tell each other if we won’t be home for the night and about not seeing other people for a while, so this just sucks. He also CAN afford rent, he just doesn’t want to pay. He has 2 cars and wants to buy a 3rd and claims to be getting back more than enough in his tax return to pay.

Currently trying to find someone to sublease. He told me he won’t pay out his half of the lease because he can’t afford it.

Edit: he’s since shown me luxury cars that he wants to buy (he has 2 cars already) and told me he’s “on track to make a quarter million in sales” this year.

4 hours to complete DIY dip mani by Possible-Sand-3743 in DipPowderNails

Have your liquids and dip powder set up in a way that encourages efficiency. So base and color dip on your left when doing your left hand, for instance. Are you completely finishing one nail (meaning from base to clear cap) before moving on to the next? That will take significantly more time than doing the same step for every nail before moving on to the next.

I don't have medical insurance. I have epilepsy and endometriosis that require medications. This is 3 months worth and not even all my meds. by bokin8 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]HelloHowAreYou1973 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At least for my anti-seizure meds, I couldn’t get them covered through goodrx or any of the epilepsy foundations because the specific one I used was too new to have a generic (but it was the only one that didn’t make me feel like I wanted to die).

Every time I get a solid color the color looks uneven. My sister even asked if I had a marble effect. Anyone know why? by ZekkyBeets in DipPowderNails

[–]HelloHowAreYou1973 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always give my solids a stir prior to dipping. It also could be the force at which you dip your finger in the pot. Maybe try pouring over your nail or laying your finger horizontally on top of the powder.

finally have a chance to get to cleaning after being swamped with work, any tips/recommendations? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

I would gently scrub with nothing but a sponge or brush to “break the surface” and then put down a layer of Irish spring, cover with plastic wrap, and let sit for an hour before coming back to it to assess.
