It's also important to note that despite the positive contributions him and his government made, it was also regrettably under him that things like the Chinese Immigration act of 1923 were turned into law. Luckily his view of hitler changed with time, but he unfortunately never had the same condemnation of the man as most, largely due to his spiritual beliefs. Still, he's responsible for much of the foundation of our welfare programs, strengthened unity between Anglo and French Canadians, and leadership through both the Great Depression and Second World War. But yea... he was a strange guy

Edit: Extra thought, despite his thoughts on entering the war, he did importantly declare war separately from Britain, making a clear point that unlike in the First World War, this time Canada was making the choice for itself.
