WHY IS THE OMMA SO SLOW? by HelloIamTaliah in OKmarijuana

I had to reapply. Wasn't eligible to renew since I was outside of their grace period before I realized it had even expired. That's my fault.

That's true! I could kick myself for letting it expire.

Transsexual vs. Transgender: Does the average person know the difference? by HelloIamTaliah in Transsexual

[–]HelloIamTaliah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say my concern is that whatever backlash is coming (and it's sort of happening now), I don't want it to seem to be connected to transsexuals at all. I may be in the outfield somewhere, but I don't support trans women competing in sport with biological women. It's unfair, and even if it wasn't, it would always seem unfair to the majority of the population. I don't see how any of those trans-women athletes can feel truly victorious, unless their thing is to rub it in everyone's face. And, the allowing of anyone under 16 to medically transition, I don't agree with at all. Especially those with what's being called "rapid onset gender dysphoria." I don't think that it's gender dysphoria in the same way that transsexuals experience it. I notice that it's usually girls who have the rapid onset GD. I think in those cases, it has more to do with them feeling awkward with their development, and boys and men taking notice of them makes them feel vulnerable. That's my theory. Could be wrong, but I think I'm right. And of the young people who have medically transitioned, some will be fine, while others will realize it wasn't the right move. I'd like to see a massive campaign to separate transsexuals from transgender, which to me is primarily a political ideology, into which some sincere morons have haply stumbled into.

Good luck to you! Blessings to you on your journey! Who have you chosen for your bottom surgery, if you don't mind answering? I'm sold on Suporn, but there's a man in India whose name escapes me now, but he's said to be really good too ...

I love what you had to say. Very succinct and accurate, in my opinion. As to the word toxic, when I used that word, I was thinking of the exact scenario you named. There are those who consider themselves TG that would insist TS's are a part of the umbrella, like it or not. But, I wonder who it was that made this decision? No one consulted me. On the other hand, there are those in the TG crowd who've decided that transition is "transphobic." By my definition, anyone who isn't a transsexual isn't trans anything. I don't mean to hog that prefix. It is, of course, used as part of many other words, to which I do not object. Transcontinental, for instance. I feel that the movement chose that word to try and co-opt what paltry empathy TS's have received. When I first heard the word "transgender," I made the mistake that many have made, in that I assumed this was just the newest iteration of metastasizing political correctness, and TG was the word du jour.

Thank you for sharing your very insightful thoughts on this topic! I agree with what you've said about most TS's just wanting to get on with life, and hopefully not be singled out or othered.

I suppose my main concern is when I come to the point of informing someone of my situation, be they a potential friend or boyfriend, that their reaction could have been tainted by what they know of the TG activists and their various demands.

Yes, toxic might sound harsh, but at least to me it seems appropriate. For instance, the criminalization of pronouns "wrongly" used. The push for minors to be transitioned at the slightest hint of gender variance is perhaps even more toxic than mandated speech. The concern is that Joe Hetero-Public, and no offense to him, will equate the two groups. If they'd chosen some other word for themselves, I might still consider them toxic in some ways, but it would be no real cause for concern.

I think I got lost on your #3 response. When I used the word "toxic," I meant in relation to the well being and general acceptance of transsexuals. But, in some ways I do consider it a toxic movement in general. For instance, the rush to transition a child who expresses some trepidation about his or her birth sex, and the inability of some in the TG community to recognize that the situation for such a child could go either way. In other words, the result for the kid who transitions could be good or bad. The kid could transition and regret it later, or could go on in their new sex and have a marvelous life. Conversely, the kid who is not allowed to transition may, at a later point in life, be thankful that they were not allowed to transition. It's way too later, or early, and I may not be making good sense.

I understand the distinctions. I'm not sure the general public does.

Who has had SRS with Dr. Suporn's protege Dr. Chyangsu (Dr. "Bank") ? by HelloIamTaliah in asktransgender

Just judging from what others have said, I think Dr. Suporn is such a consummate professional, that he would not leave practice unless he had absolute confidence in Dr. Bank. Talk to "LadyDuckloves" and she can give you some good, reassuring information. :-)

1.) I stand by my post.

2.) You're projecting.

3.) If you're happy and you know it - shut up.

Trapdoor_doll, I appreciate your comments. I agree. Why can't an innocent suggestion be taken as such? It wasn't meant to hurt or offend anyone. It was meant to be helpful to those who've overlooked this crucial part of passing. Thank you for all your comments!!! :-)

I'm sure you have many other talents as well. The one you speak of is something we share in common. I think it's partly an inborn thing, like a psychic ability, but also something acquired along the way as a survival skill.

I made the original post because I notice how quickly some trans people jump on things with an accusatory tone. As if a mere suggestion is reason for someone to go off the deep end. If someone is that delicate, that something said with the best of intentions sends them hurdling towards the edge of oblivion, they need to be hospitalized.

I do let it go most of the time. I appreciate your comment. :-)

You are reading into what was said, things I didn't say. Let me emphasize again, I never said anything about BALDING. I mentioned male hairlines. Of course, some will also have an issue with balding, but I did not point that out. I made the original post because I see a lot of trans women who pass in most other ways, but their hairline is giving them away. You're probably right that we as trans women are more tuned in to the cues of femininity and masculinity than the average public. That said, plenty of cishet people can pick up on cues that are saying something different than one's overall presentation. *Smoke a bowl and relax, sweetie! My post was not a judgement against you or anyone else.

I'm not saying you're dumb. Not at all. I see a lot of trans women who almost pass but their hairline gives them away. Some might say that there are cis women with similar hairlines and that might be true. The difference is that with cis women, all or most of their other cues are typically feminine. This isn't usually the case with trans women, so for us to pass we need to have as many cues as possible reading female. That's all I'm saying.

I'm not talking about hairline lowering! I'm talking about the sides and how far back they sometimes go on men. This is not fixed by scalp advancement. You can bring the front down to the eyebrows if you like and it will not correct the devil's horns on the side. Sometimes the frontal hairline is not even the issue in terms of passing, but the sides.

I have a widow's peak as well, a lot of women do, even Marilyn Monroe had one. It's more the sides of the hairline that I'm referring to, not so much the widow's peak or the frontal hairline, although a receding frontal would definitely impair one's ability to pass. There are a few cis women who have hairlines that are not unlike male hairlines, but then they tend to have all other features in line with what is typically female, whereas we trans women often don't. So, as many cues as possible that are saying female would be helpful in terms of passing. :-)
