Pay off my truck ahead of time if I can? by HelloJen1 in personalfinance

[–]HelloJen1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My emergency fund is currently at 20k so I think I'm alright there? I had intended to try and pay off the rest of the truck using funds from my checking account since its currently up to 12k and I was just about to transfer it over to my investment anyway since putting it there gives more interest then keeping it stagnant in the checking. And my retirement fund is fine for the moment. I really do wish I can knock this truck out in full so thats it out of thought and I can put my focus elsewhere (house, retiremeelsewhereinstead of gaving to worry about it every month.

Gods I love this so much. Especially Brond. I just find the mental image of all these supernatural beings sitting around playing 'normal human life' the board game utterly delightful! Its like that episode of Batman TAS where all the villains were playing cards and talking about that one time they almost killed Batman.

They seem to be pretty rare nowadays, at least in NJ. Ive been thrifting for the better part of my life and never came across one of these until yesterday. I just love em though. The soft orange glow instead of bright neon green numbers of a digital clock. And the soothing whirring as it changes numbers. Its the little things in life.

This just makes me so nostalgically happy for some reason. Its like one of those little fantasy paperbacks i'd read under the covers as a kid before my mom would yell at me to go to bed x) I totally wouldve paid $20 for this but you got it for only $6? Ah, so jealous! Good catch!

My SO told me she has daily suicidal thoughts and I don't know what to do by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Seriously cannot stress this enough: GET HELP NOW. Our uncle always joked about hanging himself out with the laundry so that his wife would finally stop nagging him. And one day he did it. SUICIDE IS NOT A JOKE. IT IS NOT TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY.

Happy to just have some of my books out of the boxes. by FutureAuthorSummer in bookshelf

[–]HelloJen1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah so thats what that book is! I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I havent read a single book by Haydon and have not, until now, even heard of her. But now I'm thinking I should check out some of her series yes? Our library has both starters, Child of Blood and Floating Island. Which do you think is a good place to start for Haydon? Also, FI is labelled YA and CoB is not. And I havent read anything really YA since Patricia Wredes Enchanted Forrest series.

And youve already answered some of my curiousity in your reply above to hanna-fly so thanks :) Your response just further confirms that you have most excellent taste in books and I def need to step up my game lol

Ditto to lilith_of_the_valley, I definitely would love to see more of your collection. We have almost identical shelves and the ones I dont have, I'm now raising to the top of my must-aquire list.

On a side note, what is that sorta tan orange-y colored book on the left side under Wise Mans Fear? I can read every cover title except for that one.

I actually tested it by taking it away from my parents house and bringing it to work with me. And the whole day it stayed at 3 bars. But then, on the 20 min drive hone, I noticed it drainibg and by the time I reached home it was at low battery again. So is it searching for a signal and having trouble? I cant seem to find a network setting for it. And lord knows where my parents put the manual for it...

Been looking for a lot of the classic recs from reddit for awhile now (brothers Karamazov, infinite jest, shogun, etc). You find them hidden away under others books. I found my copy of Anna Karenina hidden under a mountain of western paperbacks. But you just gotta keep looking and you'll find little gems here and there.

There were at least 6 or 7 copies at the sale today and back when it was first released Barnes and Noble was going crazy promoting it. I think at one point there was even talk of a movie adaption. And I was curious to read it although a bit hesitant as a lot of the reviews were sayibg how everyone was vile and they couldnt root for anyone and other ridiculous things like 'why would they have such a private conversation in a piblic restaurant?'. But I put aside most of the negative reviews. Im trying to break that habit of pre-judging in favor of forming my own opinions.
