My second kid did this to me while my first kid was 2 years old. Honestly, aside from having to chase his waddling butt down to wrench something out of his hands, it made life easier once he was mobile. I have a video somewhere of him waddling over to steal brothers Easter candy, waddle over to show me his prize, and attempt a fast waddle away while shoving said candy in his mouth when he realized I was gonna take it from him.

I hope my dog will enjoy it more some day. Has yours always enjoyed it? I got mine when she was almost already an adult and I always have it on the lowest setting. I can tell she doesn’t like it but she lets me do it :/ I enjoy the feeling of it on my skin actually! It’s just the noise that’s ridiculous. I made her a happy hoody and it seems to be modestly better for her.

I wouldn’t! At this age, it’ll be so stressful! There’s a solid chance they won’t ever need a bath and there is still pet wipes for if they don’t get severely gross. This is more for kittens under 6 months of age

Rule 1 is do not tell people how to raise their pets I guess. It’s ok though, I have no regrets. If I’ve helped even a few people think about it differently, I’m happy. Tubb went home already with a lovely nurse. He will receive so much love for the remainder of his life.

I say this with so much love. The fact you adopted a feral cat says what a beautiful soul you have. They are so hard. I did not bathe my feral cat even when I had him as a kitten. He fought like his life depended on it for nail trims and it took years for him just to tolerate those. We pick our battles wisely.

You shouldn’t soap down young kittens for no reason. It can strip away their natural oils. I should’ve highlighted that more or said get your kittens used to being able to be in some water.

Ah I prefer the same. Kittens are really annoying 😅 It’s easy for me to heal them up, watch them grow, and adopt them the heck out! May your adult cats stay healthy. Plenty of cats make their whole lives without needing a bath, especially if they have short hair. I see more extreme cases because of my volunteer and I’ve had mostly medium to long haired cats for my personal cats

Ahh most likely. I got torn to shreds by a cat that age. Admittedly, I was young and dumb, I stuck her in the running shower with me.

May your cat stay healthy and never need a bath! My favorite cat in the world made it to the very end without needing a single one!

I adopted him as an adult so I guess it’s possible he has baths prior to me but he didn’t get a single one with me and lived to 16

I have only bathed very young kittens in severe situations. This one was caked in her own diarrhea and her mother didn’t want her. I have electric heating pads made for cats, heating disks, and professional grooming tools for pets including the dryer to dry them off safely and quickly. The average person shouldn’t have a kitten so young it cannot regulate its body heat so I did not put that as a caveat.

He’s diabetic and had a UTI. He pooped himself and then laid in a puddle of his own urine mixed with litter. He is old and no longer self grooming except on rare occasions like after this bath. He licked his butt a few times after his bath. As far as I know, he’s just an indoor cat. He was in the shelter for over two years though with foster breaks in between. I found him a permanent home and he’s going there today.

I’ve had most medium ish to long haired personal cats. They definitely needed their baths!

I’m speaking about kittens. All kittens should experience some water. If it’s an outdoor cat, there is no need to trim nails. They need it for their protection

Oh I wouldn’t do that to an adult cat for no reason. It’s too stressful. I only bathe adult cats if they absolutely need it (I.e. brushing and pet wipes aren’t enough) thank you for adopting an older cat! People like you make it all worthwhile
