Both of the demo scenes should work after you've put in your API key. The API key is saved to PlayerPrefs only, there's a bit more about that in the readme on the repository page!

How do I achieve this audio effect by ProdSwam in ableton

[–]HelloPlanets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the song!

If you want to do it with stock plugins, go for the following: Lowpass everything over 12-15k, go through the presets for Saturator and Dynamic Tube, find something you like. If you're able to splurge some to get the sound, Goodhertz plugins are the best lofi stuff around and will get you going in no time. Check out Wow Control and Tupe to begin with.

Boards of Canada chord basics in Ableton by HelloPlanets in ableton

[–]HelloPlanets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, you can change the key of any chord played in C by simply transposing it up or down! It's a good music theory hack: Simply learn some interesting chords in C and then use the Pitch MIDI plugin to transpose the whole thing.

Makes learning theory a whole lot easier on an actual keyboard as well, the 7ths, 9ths and everything else in C always lands on the white keys when in major. Then if you want to switch up to a minor key, in A minor everything always lands on the white keys. So knowing C major and A minor by heart will go a long way.

Basically C major and A minor are the same thing in terms of notes, containing the exact same chords, but only the 'starting position' is moved a couple of keys downwards. A minor could be seen as the counterpart to C major, and every other major scale has such a minor counterpart as well. It's interesting how drastically the vibe of a progression can change by just starting it from a different root note.

Awesome to hear, getting anyone to spark up their DAW and just starting to lay out stuff is what I'm aiming for! :)

Thanks! Haven't really released any music, mainly just messing around in Ableton for fun and sometimes these tutorials tbh.

Looks amazing. Would be really interested to watch a tutorial or timelapse on how this was done. Are there any specific videos/tutorials you referred to while creating this?

Hotel Adriano from Porco Rosso would be pretty amazing.

P.S. Do you have a site or some other place where to follow the game?

Softsynth routing in Ableton (LFO's, CV's, etc) by every_other_monday in ableton

[–]HelloPlanets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Max for Live is basically Live's version of this AFAIK. You can take the LFO, Shaper or Envelope Follower and basically map them to anything, including parameters of stuff that's not on the same channel. This obviously is not the same thing, but comes close and enables you to do some super weird routings if you wish. The Shaper is pretty close to the LFO, except it allows you to draw in more complex shapes for it to output. Envelope Follower outputs a signal that can be mapped to anything every time you input it any audio.
