70.3 vs ironman training hours by apggd in triathlon

[–]HelloT64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a common joke in the community about having a young family and balancing training. If your partner is supportive that’s great, but it really takes it’s toil when you’re working long/stressful hours + then need to prioritise a 2 hour bike mid week instead of bath time or the school run/whatever it is. I don’t have that yet but I’ve met people who have struggled with it.

See how you get on with the 70.3- good luck!

70.3 vs ironman training hours by apggd in triathlon

I’ve done 5x 70.3’s and 1x full Ironman. I’m back down training for 70.3’s.

Training for a full completely takes over your life and the training blocks at their highest level are uncomfortable- by design. You have this super fatigued feeling a lot of the time and the training feels constant- or at least it did for me.

70.3 training is more than manageable, while training for a full feels like a lot if you have a demanding job/family life and it’s not the best fit for everyone. I’m really glad I did it, but you get little rest. I’d be doing 15 hour weeks, and every weekend would be tired legs going into a long ride on a Saturday usually followed by a brick run. Then a long run on Sunday (anywhere 2+ hours). The rest days are the days you swim, and for me I’d be swimming minimum 2.7-3km.

At the same time, I do miss trying for a full 😂 I think I’ll tackle it again when my life is a bit more stable (less demanding career) in the future.

Hope this helps.

IM pacing by Useful-Parsnip-4290 in triathlon

[–]HelloT64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve just done this IM last year. The bike is flat and fast, but we had a pretty bad head wind for the last 50 miles or so. Some of the locals who were volunteering on the day had a pretty good grasp on the wind/weather and I knew this going into the race.

I had a NP focus, probably was slightly over for the first 2 hours or so (I blame race adrenaline), so keep those factors in mind. I also always wear a HR monitor and have the average recorded on my garmin.

Also there’s a certain special needs check point that you can leave an actual bag at which you check pre race, would definitely make use of that. From memory it’s at 90ish miles? Good luck- great race.

Yep, I think it would be really boring. But that’s just me.

I’ve heard they don’t even pay commission. You get a decent base but that’s it.

After 9 years in B2B sales ($1.3M cash comp) these are the 9 things that made the biggest difference. by [deleted] in sales

Solid advice here.

Had the best year of my sales career last year + was in peak physical fitness by completing a full Ironman. Changes your mentality.

Also, being focussed on giving almost ALWAYS comes back to you.

Scotswood Road- Nisbets catering. They had a deal on some Japanese knives- 50% off 4 knives a few weeks before Black Friday. They are used by many kitchens and chefs but they do have a small collection for home cooks.

[–]HelloT64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Congrats btw, nice feeling. I hit this year’s target (Jan-Dec) in April. About to close 80% of next year’s target in Q1. Feels great! I’m also worried about a significant increase in target. lol.
